Job summary

CIMB Bank Berhad is seeking a Cost & Financial Planning professional in Kuala Lumpur to plan, monitor, and analyse cost performance across the bank. The role will partner with business units to deliver sustainable cost outcomes with strong governance.

Key duties include assisting in budgeting, forecasting, and developing cost plans aligned to strategic initiatives, as well as monitoring variances and identifying efficiency opportunities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting/Finance/Engineering or equivalent.
• ACCA/MICPA/CPA/ICAEW/MIA designation is an added advantage.
• 3–8 years of experience in strategic cost management within large organisations, financial institutions or similar.
• Working knowledge of a broad spectrum of banking operations.
• Experience in cost control initiatives, budgeting, forecasting and financial analyses.
• Ability to interpret and present business results to improve cost efficiency.

Responsibilities

• Assist in cost budgeting and forecasting processes, including annual budget, rolling forecast, and outlook updates.
• Develop cost plans aligned with strategic initiatives, productivity targets, and cost-to-income objectives.
• Support allocation of resources across business units and functions.
• Monitor actual costs versus budget, forecast, and prior periods.
• Perform variance and trend analysis across key cost categories (staff, IT, premises, marketing, etc.).
• Identify cost drivers, risks, and opportunities for efficiency improvements.
• Support design, tracking, and governance of cost optimisation initiatives.
• Track benefits realisation and savings delivery against targets.
• Provide insights on fixed vs variable cost structures and scalability.
• Act as a finance partner to business and support functions.
