Job summary

Advanced Energy in Penang is seeking a dedicated Supplier Quality Engineer to support NPI activities, verify components, and coordinate supplier quality documentation. The role involves collaborating with QE, Process, Eng’g and Purchasing to resolve production and supplier quality issues, while driving supplier improvement initiatives.

The position emphasizes hands-on measurement, inspection, and data-driven problem solving to ensure product qualification and readiness for production.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 2–4 years in Supplier Quality/QA/ QC or Manufacturing Quality.
  • Hands-on experience with measurement systems, inspection methods and quality inspection tools.
  • Experience with incoming inspection, supplier audits and CAPA processes.
  • Knowledge of root cause analysis and supplier corrective action processes.
  • Experience collaborating with engineering, manufacturing and suppliers to resolve quality issues.
  • Familiarity with ISO 9001, IATF 16949, AS9100 or similar QM systems is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Support NPI SQE supplier quality during new product introductions.
  • Generate regular quality reports including SCAR and weekly updates.
  • Provide factory support by reviewing SQIR/MDR and participating in quality meetings.
  • Validate measurements and support internal and customer requirements.
  • Perform other tasks as directed by SQE Engineer or SQE Manager.
  • Participate in cross-functional quality meetings and supplier discussions.

Job description

POSITION SUMMARY:
Support SQE Engineers in New Product Introduction (NPI) activities by performing technical quality support, component verification, inspection and measurement support, supplier quality documentation, issue tracking and coordination activities to ensure successful product qualification and production readiness. Perform the following activities:

  • Conduct reject component verification during NPI stages from Production, IQC and Customer.
  • Handle administrative tasks such as:
    • Compilation and uploading of NPI data into systems.
    • Review and validation of SQIR from Production, IQC and internal teams.
    • Issuance of Supplier Corrective Action Requests (SCAR)
  • Support daily operations across Production, IQC and customer requirements.
  • Coordinate supplier sorting, rework, and evaluation activities.
  • Oversee/collaborate on IQC measurement activities for NPI component.
  • Follow up on supplier issues and pending requirements.
  • Perform other related tasks as directed
  • Propose and support supplier improvement initiatives to meet quality objectives and monitor supplier performance for new products.
  • Support internal teams such as QE, Process, Eng'g and purchasing in resolving production and customer quality issues related to supplier materials.
  • Participate in factory quality meetings and supplier visit/meetings.
  • Support product development activities such as: PQCP reviews, Supplier fabrication monitoring, other related tasks.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all information related to the production processes and components, business and other technology including materials.
  • Adhere to organizational requirements on quality management, health and safety, code of conduct, legal stipulations, environmental, 5S policies and general duty of care.
  • Other duties as assigned.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Assist NPI SQE supplier quality supports
    • site visit to verify actual measurement.
    • alignment of inspection methodologies.
    • clarification of specs and requirements.

  • Generate regular quality reports

  • Provide factory support
    • review SQIR, MDR (to include formally informing the supplier) and E-Purgings
    • participate in quality meetings

  • Perform other quality and administrative assignments as directed by SQE Engineer or SQE Manager, such as
    • cross-functional quality meetings
    • supplier and customer discussions
    • perform other tasks as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Good communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to interact effectively with suppliers, cross-functional teams, and internal stakeholders.
  • Strong knowledge and hands-on experience in the use of measuring and inspection equipment, including 2D and 3D measurement systems (e.g., CMM, Vision Systems, Calipers, Micrometers, Height Gauges).
  • Knowledge of Statistical Process Control (SPC), quality tools, and structured problem-solving methodologies (e.g., 8D, 5 Why, Fishbone Diagram, FMEA).
  • Ability to read, understand, and interpret engineering drawings, GD&T specifications, and technical documentation.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Good command of written and spoken English.
  • Ability to prepare technical reports, inspection reports, and supplier quality documentation.
  • Strong attention to detail, analytical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
  • Self-motivated, proactive, and willing to learn new technologies and quality methodologies.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented manufacturing environment.
EXPERIENCE: Essential:
  • Minimum 2 to 4 years of experience in Supplier Quality, Quality Assurance, Quality Control, or Manufacturing Quality within an industrial or manufacturing environment.
  • Hands-on experience with measurement systems, inspection methods, and quality inspection tools.
  • Experience conducting incoming inspection, supplier audits, supplier quality investigations, and corrective/preventive action activities.
  • Familiarity with root cause analysis and supplier corrective action processes.
  • Experience working with engineering, manufacturing, and supplier teams to resolve quality issues.
  • Knowledge of ISO 9001, IATF 16949, AS9100, or other relevant quality management systems is an advantage.
EDUCATION: Essential:
  • Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related technical discipline from a recognized institution.
OTHERS:
