Job summary

Benchmark Electronics (M) Sdn Bhd in Bayan Lepas, Penang, is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to create concept and detailed 3D CAD designs for products and sub-assemblies in industrial and medical devices.

You will design cable routing, machine frames, sheet metal parts, die-cast components and enclosures, and prepare technical documentation including drawings, tests and assembly processes while collaborating with cross-functional teams.

Qualifications

• Diploma or Bachelor’s degree, or PE, in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent).
• 3–5 years of relevant experience as a mechanical design/electro-mechanical engineer or drafter.
• Familiar with mechanical drawing standards (ASME, ISO, etc.).

Responsibilities

• Create concept and 3D CAD designs for products and sub-assemblies per requirements.
• Design cable/bundle routing, machine frames, sheet metal, machining parts, die cast parts and enclosure parts.
• Prepare technical docs: 2D drawings, verification tests, assembly processes.
• Support senior engineers with design reviews and test specs/reports.
• Assist daily mechanical tasks: detail CAD modeling, prototypes, testing.
• Collaborate with System, Electrical, Process Engineers, Fabrication Techs and Field Service Engineers.

Job description

Create concept and detailed 3D CAD design of products and sub-assemblies in industrial machines/products and/or medical products according to customer requirements or recognized industry standards.

Create concept and detailed 3D CAD design of cable/bundle routing and design, machine frame structural design, sheet metal design, machining part design, die cast part design and plastic enclosure parts.

Create and review technical performance documentation including 2D drawing, verification/qualification testing, assembly process, etc.

Create or support senior/staff mechanical engineers for design review documentation, including performance specification, design specification, critical design review document, test specification and report etc.

Support senior/staff mechanical engineers for daily mechanical tasks (detail design CAD modelling, prototype build, verification testing etc.)

Collaborate with other engineers from different industries: System Engineers, Electrical Engineers, Process Engineers, Fabrication Technicians and Field Service Engineers.

Job Requirements/Qualification:

Candidate must possess at least a Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree, Professional Engineering Degree, majoring in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.

Min 3-5 years of relevant experience as a mechanical design engineer, electro-mechanical engineer, or mechanical drafter.

Familiar with mechanical engineering drawing standards (i.e. ASME, ISO etc.)
