Job summary

Ambition is seeking an experienced SQL Server Database Administrator to own and maintain critical database infrastructure in a 24/7 environment. You will focus on performance, availability, and incident response for SQL Server, SSIS, SSAS, and SSRS with duties spanning tuning, upgrades, and monitoring.

The role targets candidates comfortable with night shifts and on-call schedules, offering a challenging environment in which to protect mission-critical systems and contribute to ongoing

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience administering Microsoft SQL Server (2014-2019).
• Advanced T-SQL knowledge and the ability to troubleshoot complex queries.
• Experience with performance tuning, query optimisation, and large dataset strategies.
• Working knowledge of SSIS, SSAS, and/or SSRS.
• Experience with Availability Groups and SQL Server Replication is an advantage.
• Exposure to large-scale virtualised server environments is a plus.
• Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and able to work effectively with limited supervision.
• Comfortable working night-shift and on-call schedules as part of a 24/7 operation.

• Install, configure, upgrade, and administer SQL Server engine, SSIS, SSAS, and SSRS
• Resolve database, schema, and user account incidents
• Diagnose and address performance challenges, including complex query optimisationRespond to production-impacting outages and incidents across shift hours
• Coordinate testing of changes, upgrades, and new services to ensure reliable system operation
• Lead and support application and system monitoring process development
• Manage problem resolution and root cause analysis activities
• Maintain accurate technical and user-facing documentation
