Oxydata & TechTalent is recruiting a Database Administrator for our Kuala Lumpur team. The role focuses on managing and optimizing SQL Server, PostgreSQL, and cloud-native databases across development and production environments, with emphasis on uptime, security, and performance.

You will support developers, implement high-availability solutions, and ensure compliance with data governance standards in an onsite setting.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of SQL Server and/or PostgreSQL administration.
• Strong performance tuning and optimisation skills.
• Experience with virtualization and cloud environments (VMware, Nutanix, cloud platforms).
• No visa sponsorship available.

Responsabilités

• Install, configure, and upgrade database systems (SQL Server, PostgreSQL, cloud databases).
• Apply patches and version upgrades with minimal downtime.
• Backups, restoration, and disaster recovery planning.
• Monitor performance and identify bottlenecks.
• Optimise queries, stored procedures, and indexing.
• Plan capacity and ensure scalability.
• Implement replication, clustering, and high availability.
• Ensure uptime and reliability requirements are met.
• Support developers with schema design and query optimisation.
• Maintain documentation for configurations and policies.
• Ensure data governance, security, and privacy standards compliance.
• Monitor and manage database access and security controls.
• Provide on-call support for critical production systems if required.

Requirements

Must-have:

• Minimum 3 years of experience in SQL Server and/or PostgreSQL administration.
• Strong understanding of database performance tuning and optimisation.
• Exposure to VMware, Nutanix, or cloud platforms.
• Understanding of virtualisation and cloud infrastructure environments.
• No visa sponsorship available.

• Experience with backup, recovery, and high-availability solutions.
