Job summary

Liberty General Insurance Berhad is seeking a skilled tax professional to ensure timely tax provisions and compliance across the Liberty Group. The role covers tax reporting, GST/SST related tasks, stamp duty, and GMT preparation, with emphasis on accuracy and stakeholder communication.

The ideal candidate holds a degree in accounting or finance, 4+ years in audit/financial reporting and corporate tax, and may have ACCA/CPA/ICAEW qualifications. Insurance industry experience is a plus.

Qualifications

  • Degree in accounting or finance required.
  • Minimum 2 years in audit/financial reporting and at least 2 years in corporate tax.
  • Proficient in English and Bahasa Malaysia; able to communicate effectively with stakeholders.
  • ACCA/CPA/ICAEW or equivalent qualification is advantageous.
  • Insurance industry experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Update Detailed Management Expenses Report for tax computation.
  • Update Management Expenses Tax Schedule for tax computation.
  • Collate and summarize monthly stamp duty payable amount and arrange payment to IRB.
  • Service Tax bi-monthly return including reconciliation and payment.
  • Prepare Pillar 2 GMT submission.
  • Submit e-Invoice to the IRB and handle enquiries from business users.
  • Assist in service tax and stamp duty system table setup.
  • Provide tax compliance advisory and support to business users (Withholding Tax, Service Tax, Stamp Duty, invoicing requirements, and other tax obligations).
  • Support company tax audits by attending tax notices and responding to queries from tax authorities.
  • Stay updated on changes in tax laws and regulations.
  • Assist tax agents & IRB with queries.
  • Knowledge sharing with team members/peers.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by manager(s).
  • Execute day-to-day operations in line with SOPs across all support functions.
  • Ensure compliance with risk management guidelines and regulations; uphold good corporate governance.

Job description

Ensure timely completion of monthly tax provisions, tax reporting to Liberty Group, submissions to local tax authorities. Ensure compliance with relevant laws & regulations, including Liberty Group's requirements.

Individual Responsibilities:
  • Update Detailed Management Expenses Report for tax computation.
  • Update Management Expenses Tax Schedule for tax computation.
  • Collate and summarize monthly stamp duty payable amount and arrange payment to IRB.
  • Service Tax bi-monthly return including reconciliation and payment.
  • Preparation Pillar 2 Global Minimum Tax (GMT) submission.
  • Responsible for the submission of e-Invoice to the IRB and enquiries from business users.
  • Assist in service tax and stamp duty system table setup.
  • Provide tax compliance advisory and support to business users, including matters related to Withholding Tax, Service Tax, Stamp Duty, invoicing requirements, and other indirect and direct tax obligations.
  • Support company's tax audits by attending tax notices and ensuring that requests and queries from the tax authorities are promptly responded.
  • Keep abreast of new/ changes in tax laws & regulations.
  • Provide support in addressing queries from tax agents & IRB.
Others

  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by manager(s).

  • Execute day-to-day operations in line with SOPs across all support functions.

  • Ensure consistency with risk management guidelines.

Work Experience:
Education/Academic Qualifications:

Degree in accounting, finance or related fields.

Functional knowledge/Technical skill:
  • Current knowledge of tax laws & regulations, proficient in English and Bahasa Malaysia, able to communicate (verbally and written) effectively to stakeholders, able to accurately handle & analyse data, good team player and attention to details.

Partial/ full professional qualification (ACCA, CPA, ICAEW or equivalent) will be an advantage.

Work Experience:
  • At least 2 years of working experience in audit/ financial reporting and at least 2 years in corporate tax.
  • Prior working experience in the insurance industry will be an added advantage.
