Job summary

KPJ Selangor Specialist Hospital in Penang seeks a dedicated Registered Nurse to provide high-quality dialysis care and coordinate patient treatment within our unit.

You will follow doctor orders, lead nursing rounds, educate patients and families, and collaborate with the care team to ensure compassionate, safe care in a fast-paced hospital setting.

Qualifications

• Registered with Nursing Board of Malaysia with a valid nursing license.

Responsibilities

• Adheres to nursing care vision and unit objectives; performs shift duties as assigned to ensure high quality care.
• Notifies unit manager of changes that could impact care standards.
• Obtains and hands over patient progress reports and follows doctor orders for shifts.
• Visits patients with the team to reassess conditions and re-plan nursing care.
• Provides comprehensive haemodialysis nursing care using dialysis machines and related devices.
• Performs nursing rounds, offers emotional support, and assists with procedures as needed.
• Executes doctor orders and coordinates with the team to ensure patient satisfaction.
• Engages in health education for patients and families and informs on organ donation programs.
• Communicates clearly and compassionately about condition and treatment options.
• Assists with patient billing procedures, scheduling next appointments, and guiding to cashier for payment.
• Collaborates with the unit manager in administration and covers duties in their absence.
• Ensures accurate charging for equipment and consumables and verifies completeness of charges.
• Inspects sterile packs and maintains adequate unit stock from CSSS.

Job Description

• Adherence to nursing care vision, mission,goalsand objectives, aligns with the scope of nursing services, and performs shift duties as assigned by the Unit Manager to ensure high quality care rendered.
• Notifies the unit manager of any changes in the situation that could impact the standards of care.
• Obtains and handovers a report of patient progress, ensuring all doctor’s orders are followed before changing or over taking shifts and notifying any incidents or problems encountered.
• Visit patients in the unit with team members to assess conditions, re-plan nursing care, and determine nursing priorities based on patient needs and staff availability.
• Provides comprehensive hemodialysis patient care using the nursing process approach and various medical devices (hemodialysis machines, CRRT, various access sites), manages all phases of hemodialysis treatment, maintains patient records, and promptly reports abnormalities to medical professionals.
• Conducts nursing rounds on patients, providing emotional support and accompanying doctors while doing rounds, as well as assisting in procedures as needed.
• Executing the doctor’s orders, coordinating with team members related to patients’ treatment, and fostering effective communication with all disciplines, patients, and relatives to ensure patient satisfaction.
• Engages actively in health education for patients and their families, unit meetings, and hospital activities, providing support and education to dialysis patients, advising on organ donation programs, and planning treatment programs to ensure adequate treatment.
• Provide clear, compassionate, and culturally sensitive communication with patients, ensuring their understanding of their condition, treatment options, and care plan in a comprehensive manner.
• Assist with patient billing procedures, scheduling next appointments and guide them to the cashier for payment processing after receiving treatment.
• Collaborate with the unit manager in administration, setting care standards, and fulfilling duties in the absence of the unit manager, while also carrying out assigned tasks and providing feedback.
• Charge accurately, incorporating charges for equipment and consumable items into the patient’s charges and verifying their completeness.
• Inspect and document the supply of sterile packs to ensure the integrity of the packaging and maintain an adequate supply of unit stock from CSSS

Job Requirement

Registered with Nursing Board of Malaysia with a valid license to practice as a Registered Nurse.
