Job summary

KPJ Selangor Specialist Hospital in Malaysia is seeking a registered nurse to provide professional care in the dialysis unit, adhering to policies and nursing standards.

You will work with a multidisciplinary team, manage shifts, perform hemodialysis procedures, educate patients and families, and participate in hospital activities while upholding compassionate, culturally sensitive care.

Qualifications

• Registered with the Nursing Board of Malaysia and hold a valid practicing license.
• Post basic qualification in a related nursing field.
• Minimum 3 years of clinical nursing experience.

Responsibilities

• Adheres to nursing vision and unit goals while performing shift duties.
• Notifies unit manager of changes that affect care standards.
• Gathers handovers and ensures doctor's orders are followed during shift changes.
• Visits patients with the team to assess conditions and re-plan care.
• Provides haemodialysis care using machines and CRRT; documents care.

Job description

GENERAL DESCRIPTION

Accountable for providing professional nursing care to patients within a hospital unit, adhering to hospital policies and nursing services principles, policies, and procedures to ensure high-quality care practiced.

JOB DESCRIPTION

1. Adherence to nursing care vision, mission, goals and objectives, aligns with the scope of nursing services, and performs shift duties as assigned by the Unit Manager to ensure high-quality care rendered.
2. Notifies the unit manager of any changes in the situation that could impact the standards of care.
3. Obtains and handovers a report of patient progress, ensuring all doctor's orders are followed before changing or over taking shifts and notifying any incidents or problems encountered.
4. Visit patients in the unit with team members to assess conditions, re-plan nursing care, and determine nursing priorities based on patient needs and staff availability.
5. Provides comprehensive hemodialysis patient care using the nursing process approach and various medical devices (hemodialysis machines, CRRT, various access sites), manages all phases of hemodialysis treatment, maintains patient records, and promptly reports abnormalities to medical professionals.
6. Conducts nursing rounds on patients, providing emotional support and accompanying doctors while doing rounds, as well as assisting in procedures as needed.
7. Executing the doctor's orders, coordinating with team members related to patients’ treatment, and fostering effective communication with all disciplines, patients, and relatives to ensure patient satisfaction.
8. Engages actively in health education for patients and their families, unit meetings, and hospital activities, providing support and education to dialysis patients, advising on organ donation programs, and planning treatment programs to ensure adequate treatment.
9. Provide clear, compassionate, and culturally sensitive communication with patients, ensuring their understanding of their condition, treatment options, and care plan in a comprehensive manner.
10. Assist with patient billing procedures, scheduling next appointments and guide them to the cashier for payment processing after receiving treatment.
11. Collaborate with the unit manager in administration, setting care standards, and fulfilling duties in the absence of the unit manager, while also carrying out assigned tasks and providing feedback.
12. Charge accurately, incorporating charges for equipment and consumable items into the patient's charges and verifying their completeness.

13. Inspect and document the supply of sterile packs to ensure the integrity of the packaging and maintain an adequate supply of unit stock from CSSS.

JOB REQUIREMENT

Education: Registered with the Nursing Board of Malaysia with a valid license to practice as a Registered Nurse Post Basic qualification in a related field

Knowledge and Experiences: Registered Nurse with at least 3 years of clinical experience and diversity in clinical experience.

Skills & Competencies: Possess certifications in BLS, ACLS, MTLS, PALS and NRP (according to the specialties).
