Job summary

Congatec Inc. in Penang, Malaysia, is seeking a Software Engineer UEFI responsible for defining and delivering low-level software for x86 and ARM platforms. You will develop BIOS, BC firmware, and BSPs, while collaborating on hardware schematics and product planning.

You will work on UEFI BIOS, driver development, and kernel patches, with emphasis on cross-functional collaboration and on-time delivery. Strong C/C++ and assembler skills, plus experience in hardware bring-up, are essential.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Support technical definition of planned products.
• Contribute to hardware schematics creation and verify software compliant hardware design.
• Create schedules and provide effort and cost estimations for software development tasks and projects.
• Self-reliant handling of software development tasks and projects.
• Create, test, release and distribute BIOS (x86), BC FW, BSPs for target OS (drivers, kernel patches), Bootloader (ARM) and utilities (x86/ARM).
• Support hardware bring-up and debugging.
• Create software for test purposes and failure analysis.
• Analyze and solve technical customer issues with the TSC department.
• Create software usage documentation and perform knowledge transfer for field engineers and sales.
• Contribute to technical specifications for new standards, products and features.
• Analyze and solve lifecycle issues and perform software maintenance and updates.

Tasks:

• Support technical definition of planned products.
• Contribute to hardware schematics creation. Provide input for and verify software compliant hardware design.
• Create schedules and provide effort and cost estimations for software development tasks and projects.
• Self-reliant handling of software development tasks and projects.
• Create (or provide), test, release and distribute the required standard or customized software component: BIOS (x86), Boardcontroller Firmware (BC FW) (x86), Board Support Packages (BSPs) for defined target operating systems (drivers,kernel patches ...) (x86, ARM), Bootloader (ARM) o Utilities (x86, ARM)
• Support hardware bring-up and debugging.
• Create and provide software for test purposes and failure analysis.
• Analyze and solve technical customer issues in cooperation with the Technical Solution Center (TSC) department.
• Create required software and software usage documentation.
• Perform training and know how transfer for congatec field application engineers and sales representatives.
• Contribute to the creation of technical specifications for new standards, products and features.
• Analyze and solve product and software component issues during life cycle.
• Perform required software maintenance and update tasks.

Profile:

• University degree in electrical engineering or similar
• Profound knowledge of x86 architecture
• Experience with hardware related, low level programming in C/C+ + (and assembler)
• Basic knowledge of the architecture of contemporary operating systems
• Experience with low level software programming (driver development) and UEFI BIOS
• Good level of spoken and written English
