Job summary

congatec GmbH in Penang, Malaysia is seeking a Hardware Design Engineer to drive development of embedded hardware across the product life cycle. You will participate in schematic and layout tasks, component selection, and production releases for prototypes and pilots, ensuring designs meet industry specs.

• Bachelor’s Degree in Electronics Engineering or equivalent.
• Minimum 4 years professional experience in a related field.
• Design knowledge of embedded design—power management, high-speed design and mix-signal design.
• Skills to program hardware and test systems.
• Knowledge and experience in module/motherboard design; ARM, x86, embedded processors advantageous.
• Experienced with Cadence Allegro, JIRA, Confluence, Arena and data management tools; additional advantage.

Responsibilities

• Development of hardware boards in embedded computing.
• Support technical product definitions for planned projects.
• Develop hardware designs including schematics and redesigns during product life cycle.
• Get involved with hardware-related programming for CPLD/FPGA (no microcontroller programming).
• Release designs into production including prototypes and pilot builds with testing per specs.
• Create documentation such as schematics and layout with SW tools; describe developed HW.
• Select suitable components based on documentation and tests; consider second sources.
• Consider manufacturability/testability (DFM/DFT) and apply requested changes.
• Manage documents in Arena, Cadence Allegro across the life cycle.
• Analyze and resolve product issues during life cycle.

Tasks:

• development of Hardware Boards in the field of embedded computing
  • support technical definition of products for planned projects
  • development of hardware designs including schematics design, redesign during product life cycle
  • Get involved with Hardware related programming e.g. for CPLD, FPGA, special function controllers (no board or micro controller programming)
  • release design into production such as prototypes and pilots build, as well as testing against industry specifications
• create relevant documents needed to document designs such as schematics and layout with the relevant SW-programs and descriptive documentation about the developed HW product
• selection of suitable components based on documents and tests including second source components and other alternative components
• consideration of manufacture and test ability (according strategy), DFC, DFL and incorporate requested changes according to DFM, DFT
• manage documents in the systems (Arena, Cadence Allegro) over the whole life cycle
• analyze and solve product issues during life cycle
