Job summary

Optimal Insight Sdn. Bhd. invites a full-stack software engineering intern to contribute to the Generate platform. Work across the Next.js stack from UI to server logic, shipping real features to users.

• Familiarity with JavaScript/TypeScript and React.
• Understanding of Next.js features and server components.
• Knowledge of HTML, CSS, and responsive design.
• Basic understanding of databases and RESTful APIs.
• Comfort with Git and collaborative workflows.
• Strong problem-solving skills and quick learning.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain features on the Generate platform.

About the Role

We're looking for a full-stack software engineering intern to join our team and work on Generate, our proprietary Organisational Intelligence platform that turns business and people data into future shaping strategies. You'll work across the entire Next.js unified stack, from the UI to server logic and data, and own real features that ship to real users.

This is a hands-on role. You'll get meaningful responsibility, close mentorship, and exposure to the full product lifecycle.

What You’ll Do

• - Design, develop, and maintain features on the Generate platform
• - Build responsive, accessible front-end interfaces with TypeScript and React
• - Develop server-side logic, API routes, and integrations within the unified Next.js stack
• - Work with databases to model, query, and manage application data
• - Write clean, tested, maintainable code and take part in code reviews
• - Debug issues, fix bugs, and help improve performance and reliability
• - Collaborate with product and design to turn ideas into shipped features
• - Document your work and share what you learn with the team

What We’re Looking For

Required

• - Malaysian student currently pursuing full-time a degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field
• - Working knowledge of JavaScript/TypeScript and React
• - Familiarity with Next.js (App Router, server components, API routes or server actions)
• - Understanding of HTML, CSS, and responsive design
• - Basic knowledge of databases (SQL or NoSQL) and RESTful APIs
• - Comfort with Git and collaborative workflows
• - Strong problem-solving skills and a willingness to learn quickly

Nice to have

• - Personal, academic, or open-source projects we can look at (GitHub, portfolio)
• - Experience with Tailwind CSS, Prisma/Drizzle, or similar tooling
• - Experience with authentication, deployment (e.g., Vercel), or CI/CD
• - Familiarity with testing tools (Jest, Playwright, etc.)
• - Interest in AI-assisted or generative tooling
