Job summary

Jora Malaysia is supporting a licensed international insurance broker in expanding its digital capabilities from KL Eco City. They seek a Backend Software Engineer (.NET) to design, build, and maintain high-performance backend systems, integrate secure APIs, and support core financial workflows.

The role focuses on backend code quality, RESTful APIs, database design with SQL Server, and collaboration with cross-functional teams in a fintech/insurtech environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
• Proven 2+ years of backend development experience.
• Proficiency in C#, .NET (MVC & Core), and SQL Server.
• Experience with code-first Entity Framework, API architecture, and cloud deployments.
• Strong secure coding practices, authentication/authorization, and Cron jobs.
• Git/GitHub version control and CI/CD/DevOps workflows.

Responsibilities

• Write, maintain, and optimize backend code using C#, .NET Core/MVC, and SQL Server.
• Design, build, and integrate RESTful APIs and microservices.
• Monitor performance, troubleshoot issues, and fix bugs in internal systems.
• Maintain database architecture and queries using SQL Server and code-first EF.
• Conduct unit testing, write technical documentation, and collaborate with cross-functional teams.

Our client, a licensed international insurance broker, is expanding its digital capabilities and seeking a Backend Software Engineer (.NET) to join their core engineering team in KL Eco City. You will design, build, and maintain high-performance backend systems, integrate secure APIs, and support core financial and insurance workflows.

Key Responsibilities

• Write, maintain, and optimize robust backend code primarily using C#, .NET Core/MVC, and SQL Server.
• Design, build, and integrate RESTful APIs and microservices.
• Monitor technical performance, troubleshoot system issues, and perform bug fixes on internal systems.
• Maintain database architecture and queries using SQL Server and code-first Entity Framework.
• Conduct unit testing, write clear technical documentation, and collaborate closely with cross-functional development teams.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum of 2 years of proven working experience in backend software development.
• Proficiency in C#, .NET (MVC & Core), and SQL Server.
• Practical experience with code-first Entity Framework, API architecture, and cloud deployments.
• Strong understanding of secure coding practices, authentication/authorization mechanisms, and Cron jobs.
• Working knowledge of Git/GitHub version control and standard CI/CD / DevOps workflows.
• Experience in fintech, insurtech, or financial systems is an added advantage.
