Job summary

Private Advertiser is seeking a Software Engineer to join its Automation Product Development team and deliver robust control software for AOI machinery used in semiconductor manufacturing.

The role focuses on C#, .NET and WPF development, motion control, and integration of industrial protocols. You will collaborate with mechanical, electrical and vision engineers, mentor juniors, and occasionally travel internationally.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics or a related field.
• 3–5 years of experience in industrial automation or machine building, semiconductor equipment preferred.
• Strong hands-on development experience with C#, .NET and WPF.
• Proven experience with multi-axis motion control, including servo and stepper systems.
• Practical experience with EtherCAT, Modbus, PROFINET and OPC UA industrial protocols.
• Proficiency in SQL and MySQL database management for machine data and recipes.
• AC/DC electrical hardware troubleshooting and ability to support machine commissioning.
• Willingness to travel internationally and work overtime; short notice period preferred.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain industrial equipment control software using C#, .NET and WPF with modular architecture and version control.
• Develop motion control solutions for servo drives and multi-axis robotics systems.
• Integrate EtherCAT, Modbus TCP/IP, PROFINET and OPC UA protocols.
• Manage SQL, MySQL and MS Access database operations for logging, recipes and MES integration.
• Collaborate with mechanical, electrical and vision engineers to deliver turnkey automated equipment.
• Perform software debugging, system testing, machine commissioning and hardware troubleshooting.
• Optimize machine cycle times, inspection speed, throughput and safety compliance.
• Prepare functional specs, user manuals and technical documentation.
• Mentor junior software engineers and drive process improvements.
• Travel internationally and overtime as required.

Software Engineer (Automation Product Development)

Join the product development team as a Product Development Software Engineer and design, develop and optimise robust, high-performance control software for industrial automation equipment, with a primary focus on Automated Optical Inspection (AOI) machinery. You will build scalable software architectures, integrate motion control and industrial communication systems, and help deliver reliable, efficient and safe equipment for semiconductor and high-tech manufacturing clients.

Key responsibilities

Design, develop and maintain industrial equipment control software using C#, .NET and WPF with modular architecture and strict version control.

Develop motion control solutions for servo drives, stepper motors and multi-axis robotics systems.

Implement and integrate EtherCAT, Modbus TCP/IP, PROFINET and OPC UA industrial communication protocols.

Manage SQL, MySQL and MS Access database operations for machine logging, recipe handling and Manufacturing Execution System integration.

Collaborate with mechanical, electrical and vision engineering teams to build and deliver turnkey automated equipment.

Perform software debugging, system testing, machine commissioning and AC/DC electrical hardware troubleshooting.

Optimise machine cycle times, inspection speed, operational throughput and safety compliance.

Prepare functional specifications, user manuals, design documentation and other technical materials.

Mentor junior software engineers and contribute to continuous improvement across the product development process.

Undertake business travel, including international travel, and work overtime when required.

What we're looking for

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics or a related field.

At least 3–5 years of experience in industrial automation or machine building, with semiconductor equipment experience preferred.

Strong hands-on development experience with C#, .NET and WPF.

Proven experience with multi-axis motion control, including servo and stepper systems.

Practical experience with EtherCAT, Modbus, PROFINET and OPC UA industrial communication protocols.

Proficiency in SQL and MySQL database management, with experience in machine data and recipe handling.
