Job summary

MR.DIY Group (M) Berhad is seeking a Software Project Engineer to develop and enhance in-house warehouse and automation systems. The role blends software engineering, project delivery, and business process improvement, working with operations teams to deliver practical digital solutions.

You will design, build, and maintain backend components in the .NET ecosystem, integrate with external systems, and participate in planning and demonstrations with business users.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain software components for warehouse and automation-related systems (e.g. WMS, WCS, OMS, Middleware).
• Implement high-quality, maintainable, and scalable code following architecture standards.
• Collaborate with Technical Lead to align implementation with system architecture.
• Participate in task estimation, planning, and progress tracking.
• Integrate with external systems and automation equipment as required.
• Develop no-code applications where appropriate to improve efficiency.
• Engage with business users to gather requirements and validate solutions.
• Provide support during SIT/UAT/SAT and post-go-live activities.

We are looking for a Software Project Engineer with strong expertise in object-oriented programming and the .NET ecosystem to develop and enhance our in-house warehouse and automation related systems. The role combines software engineering, project implementation and business process improvement, working closely with operations teams and business users to deliver practical digital solutions that improve operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities
Business Process & Solution Design

• Work closely with operations teams and business users to understand operational workflows, business requirements, and process challenges.

• Analyse existing business processes and identify opportunities for process improvement, automation, and digitalization.

• Recommend practical solutions that improve operational eƯiciency, eliminate manual processes, and enhance system usability.
  

Software Development

• Design, develop, and maintain software components for warehouse and automation-related systems (e.g. WMS, WCS, OMS, Middleware).

• Implement high-quality, maintainable, and scalable code following established architecture and design standards.

• Contribute to system design and technical discussions, providing practical and effiicient solutions.

• Execute development tasks based on project plans, ensuring timely and high quality delivery.

• Collaborate closely with the Technical Lead to align implementation with system architecture.

• Participate in task estimation, planning, and progress tracking.

• Integrate with external systems, APIs, and automation equipment where required.

• Develop fit-for-purpose no-code applications where appropriate to improve operational efficiency

Project Delivery & User Engagement

• Participate in requirement clarification with business users and operations teams to ensure clear understanding of requirements and expectations.

• Support solution demonstrations, user walkthroughs, and functional validation during implementation phases.

• Assist in user training and onboarding to ensure successful adoption of deployed systems.

• Actively engage in implementation and delivery activities to ensure solutions meet operational requirements and user expectations.

Quality & Delivery

• Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve technical issues in development and production environments.

• Optimize application performance, reliability, and resource utilization.

• Participate in code reviews and ensure adherence to coding standards and best practices.

• Maintain proper technical documentation for developed modules and features.

• Support system testing phases including SIT, UAT, and SAT, and assist in issue resolution during deployment.

• Ensure test readiness, environment setup, and successful system acceptance.

• Support system deployment and post-go-live activities, including on-call or extended support during stabilization and transition periods to ensure smooth operations and timely issue resolution.
  

Requirements

• Core Technical Skills

• Strong proficiency in the .NET ecosystem, including C#, ASP.NET Core, and Web APIs.

• Solid understanding of object-oriented design principles and design patterns.

• Experience building maintainable and scalable backend systems.

• Familiarity with event-driven architecture or workflow-based systems.

• Experience with relational databases such as Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, or MySQL.

• Strong SQL query skills, including complex joins, aggregations, subqueries, and basic performance tuning.

• Experience in API development and system integration.

• Practical experience with version control systems, including:

  • Branching and merging workflows.

  • Participating in pull requests and code reviews.

• Ability to analyse business processes and translate business and operational requirements into practical software solutions.

• Understanding of workflow automation and business process improvement concepts.

Preferred / Advantageous

• Experience with .NET Blazor or similar frontend frameworks.

• Exposure to WMS, WCS, or warehouse/automation-related systems.

• Familiarity with industrial automation / PLC integration.

• Understanding of real-time systems or event-driven processing.

• Exposure to CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.

• Experience participating in business process improvement, workflow automation, or digital transformation initiatives.

• Experience with no-code or low-code platforms such as Lark Suite, Google AppSheet, or Microsoft Power Platform is an advantage.

Experience & Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or a related field.

• 3-5+ years of software development experience.
