Job summary

Star Media Group Berhad is seeking a News Journalist (Social Media) to join its digital newsroom. You will turn breaking news and investigative pieces into engaging social media stories, with a focus on audience reach and accuracy.

Ideal candidates have 2–3 years in news writing, strong social publishing skills, and familiarity with Canva, basic video editing, and Facebook Ad Manager. The role offers in-house training and a dynamic team environment.

Qualifications

2 to 3 years of experience in news writing, journalism, or media content creation.
Proficiency in social media publishing and tracking tools and Google Workspace.
Working knowledge of media editing software such as Canva and basic video/image editing.
Familiarity with Facebook Ad Manager is a plus.

Responsibilities

News Writing & Adaptation: Research, write, and adapt news stories and headlines for social media without compromising integrity.
Digital News Reporting: Transform breaking headlines into multimedia formats with infographics, video hooks, and short-form text.
Editorial & Marketing Collaboration: Work with Editorial and Marketing to ensure timely news updates and campaigns.
Audience Engagement & Community Moderation: Manage reader engagement on posts and facilitate meaningful discussions.
Performance Tracking: Analyze post reach and engagement using analytics tools to refine coverage.
