Job summary

A reputable legal firm in Malaysia is seeking an experienced SME / Corporate Banking Associate to manage loan documentation and advise clients in financial transactions. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor of Laws (LLB), 3 to 8 years of post-qualification experience, and strong drafting and negotiation skills. Proficiency in Mandarin is highly preferred. This full-time position requires excellent communication and the capacity to manage multiple matters independently.

They are now looking for a SME / Corporate Banking Associate with hands‑on experience in commercial and SME loan documentation, corporate banking and property transactions.

Responsibilities
  • Manage SME and corporate loan documentation from start to completion, including facility agreements, security documentation, debentures and guarantees.
  • Advise banks and corporate clients on legal issues relating to financing, securities and compliance.
  • Handle property transactions involving purchase, sale, financing and refinancing of residential and commercial properties (both sub‑sale and developer projects).
  • Draft, review and negotiate commercial agreements such as tenancy agreements, joint venture agreements and corporate documents.
  • Liaise with financial institutions, corporate clients and property developers to ensure timely completion of transactions.
  • Provide legal advice on regulatory requirements, stamp duty and tax implications related to property and financing matters.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant laws, rules and banking regulations.
  • Represent clients in discussions, negotiations and documentation processes with professionalism and efficiency.
Requirements
  • Bachelor of Laws (LLB) and admitted to the Malaysian Bar.
  • 3 to 8 years of PQE with experience in SME loans, commercial loans and corporate banking (exposure to property‑related financing is an advantage).
  • Solid understanding of banking documentation, corporate loan structures and property financing.
  • Strong drafting and negotiation skills with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple matters independently while maintaining strong client relationships.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Mandarin proficiency is highly preferred.
