Job summary

Trio-Tech (M) Sdn Bhd in Penang is seeking a hands-on SLT Equipment Engineer to support System Level Test operations. The role focuses on maintaining SLT equipment performance, providing daily technical support and driving improvements in machine availability, reliability and productivity.

The ideal candidate has 2–3 years of SLT experience and can join immediately or on short notice. The position requires working at the customer site in Penang and delivering training and documentation as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Electronics, Mechanical, Mechatronic, Computer Engineering or related field.
• 1–3 years of experience in semiconductor equipment, testing, maintenance or manufacturing with SLT background prioritized.
• Experience with System Level Test, testers, handlers, burn-in systems or automated manufacturing equipment is preferred.
• Good troubleshooting knowledge across electrical, electronic, mechanical and computer-based systems.

Responsibilities

• Provide daily engineering support for System Level Test equipment and production operations.
• Troubleshoot equipment failures, hardware issues, system disconnects and recurring alarms.
• Perform root‑cause analysis and implement corrective and preventive actions.
• Support installation, setup, commissioning and qualification of new SLT equipment.
• Establish preventive maintenance and equipment-recovery programs.
• Monitor equipment availability, downtime and performance; drive uptime improvements.
• Support new product introduction, equipment conversion and production ramp activities.
• Develop and update SOPs, troubleshooting guides and maintenance records.
• Provide technical training to SLT technicians and coordinate with cross-functional teams.
• Manage critical spare parts and maintenance requirements; ensure EHS and quality compliance.

Job description

We are looking for a hands-on SLT Equipment Engineer to support System Level Test operations in Penang.

The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining SLT equipment performance, providing daily technical support, resolving equipment-related issues and driving improvements in machine availability, reliability and productivity.

This position is open those with at least 2-3 experience as SLT engineer and candidates who are available to join immediately or within short notice will be given priority.

Job Description / Key Responsibilities

Provide daily engineering support for System Level Test equipment and production operations.

Troubleshoot equipment failures, hardware issues, system disconnects and recurring machine alarms.

Perform root-cause analysis and implement effective corrective and preventive actions.

Support the installation, setup, commissioning and qualification of new SLT equipment.

Establish and maintain preventive-maintenance and equipment-recovery programmes.

Monitor equipment availability, downtime, failure trends and overall performance.

Drive improvements to maximise equipment uptime, stability, quality and operational efficiency.

Support new product introduction, equipment conversion and production ramp activities.

Develop and update operating procedures, troubleshooting guides, maintenance records and technical reports.

Provide technical training and guidance to SLT technicians.

Coordinate with customer engineering teams, equipment vendors and other cross-functional teams to resolve technical issues.

Manage critical spare parts, equipment hardware and maintenance requirements.

Ensure all work complies with EHS, quality, cleanroom and customer requirements.

Perform other equipment-engineering duties assigned by the supervisor or management.

Job Requirements

Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical, Electronic, Mechanical, Mechatronic, Computer Engineering or a related engineering discipline.

One to three years of experience in semiconductor equipment, testing, maintenance or manufacturing wITH SLT background wil be prioritized.

Experience with System Level Test, testers, handlers, burn-in systems, servers or automated manufacturing equipment is preferred.

Basic understanding of semiconductor back-end testing and production operations.

Good troubleshooting knowledge covering electrical, electronic, mechanical and computer-based systems.

Able to use basic diagnostic tools such as multimeters and oscilloscopes.

Knowledge of preventive maintenance, equipment qualification, root-cause analysis and continuous improvement.

Basic scripting, data analysis or automation knowledge will be an added advantage.

Hands-on, proactive and able to work independently in a fast-paced production environment.

Good communication, teamwork, documentation and problem-solving skills.

Willing to work at the customer’s manufacturing site in Penang and provide operational support when required.
