Job summary

Keppel Ltd. is seeking a Facilities Manager for its data center operations in Malaysia. You will monitor daily mechanical and electrical systems, ensure environment control, and lead vendor activity while maintaining safety and compliance.

The role requires hands-on troubleshooting, report generation, and adherence to SLAs. Ideal candidates have a diploma in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering or Facilities Management, 3–5+ years in data centers or critical environments, and strong English

Qualifications

  • Diploma or higher in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering or Facilities Management.
  • Strong understanding of electrical and mechanical systems in data centers.
  • Experience with PLCs, BMS, and integration with data center infra.
  • Proficiency in MS Office; SharePoint knowledge preferred.
  • Excellent written and spoken English.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor mechanical systems (chillers, pumps, AHU/CRAH/FCU, pumps, water leaks, fire alarms) daily.
  • Monitor electrical systems (switch rooms, transformers, UPS, generators, PDUs) daily.
  • Ensure data hall temperature/humidity within range and report deviations.
  • Respond to on-site equipment alarms; troubleshoot faults in ME and EC equipment.
  • Escalate severities per procedures; supervise vendors for PM and repairs.
  • Review and approve PTW and MOP; ensure safety compliance.
  • Maintain reports and data trends; support ticketing and SLA responses.
  • Travel overseas for work when required by supervisor.

Job description

JOB DESCRIPTION
  • Daily monitoring of Mechanical system including but not limited to: chiller cooling system, water pumps, cooling towers, AHU units, CRAH units, FCU units, water leak detection, fire alarm systems, VESDA, smoke detector (raised floor/ceiling), liquid cooling etc.
  • Daily monitoring of Electrical system including but not limited to: HV/LV switch rooms, Transformers, UPS system, Generators, Power Distribution Units, etc.
  • Ensure Data Hall colocation temperature and humidity are within range.
  • Response and attend to equipment alarm on site.
  • Troubleshoot abnormal incident / fault for Mechanical and Electrical equipment.
  • Escalate/update accordingly any severity event occurred according to the process and procedures.
  • Escorting and overseeing vendor to ensure PM activities and service repairs are carried out properly and compliance with all safety procedures as well as utilization of protective equipment.
  • Ensuring all work performed are in adherence to Company policies and contract agreement.
  • Ensure the submitted PTW and MOP are reviewed and approved before the task is carried out.
  • Monthly/Weekly Electrical and Mechanical system consumption report data trending logging and ensuring timely submission of relevant reports on agreed timing such as monthly basis as required under the requirement of our MSA with customer.
  • Maintain lighting in all areas of the building.
  • Assist in maintaining up to date as built drawings, asset and inventory management.
  • Monitor incoming tickets for processing and provide support to clients/users from the ticketing portal or via email and respond based on SLA.
  • Travel overseas for work / assignment as and when necessary or requested by your immediate supervisor / the head of department.
  • Such other duties and responsibilities as may be reasonably requested by your immediate supervisor / the head of department from time to time.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
  • Diploma in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, Facilities Management, or equivalent field of study required.
  • An excellent understanding and experience of the electrical and mechanical systems used in a data center environment, including: Feeders, Transformers, Generators, Fuel Systems, Switchgear, UPS systems, Battery banks, ATS/STS units, PDU/PMM units, Chillers, Air handling units, Chilled water plant, CRAC units, Fire Alarm systems, and Fire Suppression systems.
  • Experience of complex automatic control equipment, including relay logic, programmable logic controllers (PLC's), building management systems, and their integration with the data center infrastructure.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite - Word, Excel, Outlook and Visio required; working knowledge of SharePoint preferred.
  • Proficiency in both written and spoken English.
  • 3 to 5+ years of experience in a data center or other Critical Environment required (preference is given to data center, hospital, pharmaceutical production or power plant experience).
  • Working knowledge of mechanical, electrical, life safety monitoring and control systems typically used in critical environments.
  • Proficient knowledge of HVAC and/or Electrical Systems.
  • Team Lead shall be proficient in both Electrical and Mechanical.
  • Able to work rotating shifts and on weekends/public holidays.
