Job summary

Western Digital Corporation is seeking a Shift Engineer in Manufacturing Engineering in Malaysia to plan, coordinate, and optimize sputter processes. The role focuses on start-up activities, process documentation, and cross-functional problem solving to improve yield and quality.

You will lead process improvement projects, supervise technicians, and ensure safe, compliant operations while supporting new product qualifications and machine start-ups.

Qualifications

• Bachelor Degree in Material Science and Engineering required.
• 1-3 years of working experience preferred; fresh graduates may apply.
• Strong English communication skills, both spoken and written.

Responsibilities

• Plan, coordinate, and track sputter system start-up and conversion activities.
• Audit sputter parameters and ensure online SPC and procedure conformance.
• Lead sputter process troubleshooting with the shift team to improve uptime, yield and quality.
• Drive sputter process improvement projects including new products, machines, and processes.
• Train, supervise, and coach technicians and engineering specialists to maximize efficiency.
• Ensure safety rules are followed and drive process qualification for new products.
