Job summary

Western Digital in Bayan Lepas, Penang, Malaysia is seeking a Senior Engineer, Manufacturing Engineering to plan and coordinate sputter system start-ups and conversions. You will audit sputter parameters, implement online SPC, and work with the shift process team to sustain sputter yield and quality.

The role emphasizes leadership of process tech teams, qualification of new products and machines, and driving continuous improvement in yield, downtime and cost through project work and PMR/DS

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Materials Science and Engineering.
• 1–3 years of professional experience in manufacturing or process engineering.
• Strong knowledge of semiconductor or thin-film processes.

Responsibilities

• Plan, coordinate and follow-up sputter start-up/conversion activities and documentation.
• Audit sputter parameters; implement online SPC and procedure conformance.
• Lead sputter process troubleshooting with shift team; drive yield/quality improvements.
• Lead sputter process improvement projects (SU/STT/Cost/Quality/PPH) and new product qualifications.
