About the role

Idemitsu Petrochemicals (Malaysia) Sdn. Bhd. (formerly known as Idemitsu SM (Malaysia) Sdn. Bhd.) is seeking a dedicated SHE Executive (Environment) to join our team in Pasir Gudang, Johor. This is a full-time position that plays a critical role in ensuring our operations meet the highest environmental, health, and safety standards. As an SHE Executive focused on environmental management, you will be instrumental in protecting our natural environment whilst maintaining compliance with Malaysian regulations and international best practices. This role is essential to our commitment to sustainable petrochemical operations and corporate responsibility.

Key responsibilities

Develop, implement, and maintain environmental management systems and policies aligned with ISO 14001 standards and Malaysian environmental legislation

Monitor and manage environmental compliance across all operational facilities, including waste management, air and water quality, and emissions control

Conduct regular environmental audits and inspections to identify risks and areas for improvement

Prepare and submit environmental reports and permits to relevant regulatory authorities in Malaysia

Investigate environmental incidents and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence

Monitor changes in environmental legislation and ensure organisational compliance

What we're looking for

Bachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, or a related discipline

Minimum of 2 years' professional experience in environmental management or SHE within the petrochemical or chemical manufacturing sector

Thorough understanding of Malaysian environmental regulations, including the Environmental Quality Act (EQA) and relevant industry standards

Knowledge of ISO 14001 environmental management systems and certification processes

Strong proficiency in environmental monitoring and reporting tools

Excellent knowledge of waste management, emissions control, and pollution prevention best practices

Professional certifications such as Certified Environmental Practitioner (CEP) or equivalent are highly desirable

Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities with meticulous attention to detail

Excellent communication skills in English and Bahasa Melayu, both written and verbal

Proven ability to work collaboratively across departments and with external regulatory bodies

Computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office and environmental management software
