Kowamas Edar Sdn Bhd in Shah Alam is seeking a senior automotive technician to lead diagnostics and complex repairs on Japanese and Continental vehicles. You will be a hands-on technical reference for the workshop team.
You will perform advanced diagnostics, engine and transmission repairs, and mentor junior technicians while ensuring safety and quality, using OEM tools and following SOPs. This role requires 5–8 years of hands-on experience and a strong commitment to workmanship.
Responsible for advanced diagnostics, complex repairs, and quality control for Japanese and Continental vehicles. Acts as a senior hands-on technician and technical reference for the workshop team.
Perform advanced diagnostics on mechanical, electrical, and electronic systems.
Carry out major repairs: engine overhauls, transmission repairs (automatic, manual, CVT, DSG), suspension, steering, brakes, air-conditioning.
Use OEM and multi-brand diagnostic tools (Launch, Autel, Bosch, Xentry, ISTA+, ODIS, VIDA, Techstream, Consult III, HDS).
Ensure all repairs follow manufacturer specifications and workshop SOPs.
Conduct final checks and road tests to ensure repair quality and safety.
Guide and mentor junior technicians on repair methods and best practices.
Support Service Advisors with technical explanations and accurate repair estimates.
Maintain proper use and care of tools, equipment, and PPE.
Follow workshop safety, 5S, and environmental regulations (fluids, batteries, tyres, refrigerants).
Diploma/Certificate in Automotive/Mechanical/Automotive Technology or related.
Minimum 5–8 years hands-on automotive repair experience.
Strong experience with both Japanese and Continental vehicles.
Proven skills in advanced diagnostics, engine and transmission repairs, electrical and electronic systems.
Valid driver's licence.
Excellent diagnostic and troubleshooting ability.
Strong attention to detail and quality workmanship.
Able to work independently and under pressure to meet deadlines.
Good communication and teamwork; able to coach junior staff.
Strong understanding of workshop processes and safety practices.
