Job summary

Boston Scientific in Penang, Malaysia is seeking a Supplier Quality Engineer to drive improvements in supplier quality for externally sourced components. The role focuses on evaluating supplier capabilities, approving components for use, and guiding corrective actions to improve yield and reliability.

You will collaborate with suppliers to ensure compliance with quality standards and work with Design Engineering on new component technology.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related technical discipline.
• Proven experience in supplier quality-related functions.
• Demonstrated ability to collaborate with suppliers to ensure compliance with quality standards.
• Excellent problem-solving skills with a structured, data-driven approach.

Responsibilities

• Assess potential new suppliers for technical, quality and manufacturing capabilities; provide technical support for introduction of components from new suppliers.
• Generate and maintain incoming inspection procedures; train inspectors to these procedures.
• Develop and/or source inspection tools and equipment.
• Assist in generating component specifications.
• Generate test protocols, monitor testing, issue qualification test reports and approve components for use in products.
• Provide input to Design Engineering on new component technology and assist in component selection with quality and reliability analysis.
• Analyze incoming material defects; disposition and drive corrective action; communicate issues to suppliers.
• Review design specifications and provide input from component quality and manufacturability perspective.
• Investigate field failures related to supplier materials; develop corrective action plan where necessary.
• May supervise inspectors.
