Job summary

Maersk Malaysia in Shah Alam is seeking a Commercial Pricing and Tender Management professional to prepare quotations, pricing models, rate cards and customer proposals for trucking, linehaul, distribution and cross-border solutions.

You will review RFQs, coordinate inputs, develop cost models, and ensure submissions meet deadlines while maintaining margins. The role requires at least five years in transport operations or logistics, with strong Excel and TMS skills and willingness to travel.

Commercial, Pricing and Tender Management

• Prepare transport quotations, pricing models, rate cards, and customer proposals for dedicated trucking, linehaul, distribution, cross-border, last-mile, shunting, and other transport solutions.
• Review customer RFQs and tenders, clarify commercial requirements, coordinate operational inputs, and ensure submissions are accurate and completed within the required timeline.
• Develop detailed cost models covering vehicle cost, driver cost, fuel, toll, maintenance, permits, access passes, detention, handling, subcontractor cost, and other applicable charges.
• Ensure proposed rates meet approved margin targets while remaining competitive and operationally sustainable.
• Conduct market benchmarking and recommend pricing revisions based on cost changes, operational risks, service scope, and market conditions.
• Maintain pricing files, approved rate cards, quotation records, assumptions, exclusions, and commercial approval documentation.

Customer and Business Support

• Support Business Development, Key Account, Operations, Finance, and Solution Design teams in developing transport solutions and commercial proposals.
• Participate in customer discussions, tender clarification meetings, commercial negotiations, and implementation handovers.
• Provide clear pricing assumptions, service scope, operational limitations, risks, and terms and conditions in all proposals.
• Monitor existing customer account profitability and recommend corrective actions, rate adjustments, or cost optimization initiatives when required.

Vendor Management and Procurement Support

• Manage the end-to-end vendor relationship, including sourcing, evaluation, onboarding, contract renewals, rate negotiations, performance improvement, and offboarding.
• Develop and maintain a qualified transporter panel based on service coverage, fleet capability, pricing competitiveness, compliance, safety performance, and financial sustainability.
• Negotiate vendor rates and commercial terms to support customer requirements and company profitability.
• Maintain updated vendor records and documents, including contracts, insurance, permits, licenses, rate agreements, and audit evidence.
• Review transporter invoices and supporting documents against approved rates and contracted terms, and resolve commercial discrepancies.

Performance, Service and Compliance Management

• Track and analyze vendor KPIs, including on-time delivery, vehicle placement, transit time, turnaround time, trip reliability, service failures, claims, and compliance performance.
• Conduct monthly or quarterly business reviews with vendors to review scorecards, commercial performance, operational issues, and improvement plans.
• Act as the first point of contact for transport-related vendor escalations and coordinate timely resolution of service failures, delays, cargo damage, or non‑compliance.
• Investigate service failures and coordinate corrective and preventive actions with vendors and internal stakeholders.
• Ensure vendors comply with company HSSE requirements, customer requirements, statutory regulations, operational procedures, and audit standards.
• Organize vendor briefings and training to align service providers with company standards, technology, SOPs, and customer‑specific requirements.

Financial Analysis and Reporting

• Analyze transport revenue, cost, gross profit, margin, utilization, and vendor spend, and provide regular reports to management.
• Monitor pricing compliance and ensure only approved rates and commercial terms are applied.
• Identify cost‑saving, productivity, route optimization, consolidation, and vendor rationalization opportunities.
• Prepare management dashboards and commercial updates using TMS, Excel, and data visualization tools.
• Perform additional commercial and operational tasks as required to support transport business objectives.

Job Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, Business Administration, Operations Management, Transportation, Finance, or a related discipline.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in transport operations, commercial pricing, tender management, vendor management, or logistics, preferably within a 3PL or large distribution environment.
• Experience in transport costing, rate negotiation, RFQ or tender preparation, customer proposals, vendor sourcing, and contract administration.
• Proficiency in Transportation Management Systems, Microsoft Excel, and data visualization or reporting tools.
• Sound knowledge of domestic and cross‑border transportation, transport regulations, statutory requirements, and safety standards.
• Ability to travel and work flexible hours, including operational support outside normal working hours when required.
