Job summary

RHB Group in Kuala Lumpur is seeking a Regional Risk Governance lead to align country risk frameworks with Group standards and oversee governance enhancements across markets. You will coordinate risk reviews, escalations, and approvals through Management Committees and regional forums.

Responsibilities include monitoring risk limits, preparing governance papers, and ensuring timely information flow between Regional Heads and Head Office.

Responsibilities

• Lead alignment of country risk frameworks, policies, guidelines and escalation protocols with Group requirements.
• Coordinate governance enhancements, ensuring consistent standards and closure of identified gaps.
• Plan, review and monitor progress of alignment in each country’s risk frameworks, guidelines and processes.
• Review and propose the Group’s High Level Approving Authority for regional businesses.
• Review and deliberate all risk limits for Regional before submission to Management Committees for approval.
• Oversee preparation, review and challenge of governance papers, risk submissions and reports for Management Committees, Regional Committees and Head Office forums.
• Ensure all submissions are relevant, accurate and of high quality to support informed decision-making.
• Work proactively with Group Risk Pillar Heads and Regional Risk Heads to ensure reporting remains consistent and effective across all entities.
• Master Coordinator and Challenger for RCSA, MRA and KRI for Regional before submission to Management Committees.
• Lead coordination and challenge of annual Risk Appetite setting for Regional.
• Monitor effectiveness of governance controls and follow through on remediation activities across countries.
• Engage Group Credit Control and Group Pillar Heads to ensure alignment of risk controls and governance standards across the Group.
• Engage, advise and deliberate risk matters with Regional CEO, Regional Business Heads and functional leaders across the region.
• Conduct regular check-ins with all Regional Risk Heads to surface salient issues requiring Head Office attention.
• Ensure strong connectivity with Group Risk Pillar Heads to address key Regional risk issues.
• Maintain clear, timely communication flows to Head Office on material risks, governance concerns and emerging themes.
• Lead monitoring across credit, market, liquidity, operational, conduct and emerging risks using dashboards, early warning indicators and thematic reviews.
• Identify unusual patterns, risk concentrations, cross-country anomalies or systemic issues requiring intervention.
• Ensure regional monitoring is forward-looking, data-driven and aligned with Group expectations.
• Provide consolidated, data-driven insights for senior management by benchmarking risk profiles and themes across countries.
• Drive structured follow-up on breaches, exceptions and incidents raised through surveillance findings.
• Ensure clear action ownership, remediation timelines and escalation discipline across all countries.
