ASIA INFRASTRUCTURE SOLUTIONS SDN. BHD. in Penang is seeking a hands-on Senior Resident Engineer to lead railway infrastructure construction, ensuring safety, quality, and on-time delivery.

You will oversee civil, track, depot, and utilities works, coordinate contractors and authorities, review progress, and prepare technical reports while upholding design and contract requirements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
• Minimum 20 years’ experience in construction supervision, contract administration and project delivery.
• Proven experience in railway/metro/large-scale infrastructure projects is highly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead and supervise daily railway construction activities across civil, structural, track, station, depot, viaduct and utilities works.
• Monitor progress, ensure compliance with schedules and milestones.
• Conduct site inspections and verify works against drawings and specifications.
• Review EOT claims, manage NCRs, and support handover documentation.
• Ensure compliance with Safety, Health, Environmental requirements and regulations.
• Attend progress meetings and coordinate with authorities and stakeholders.
• Prepare technical and progress reports and manage KPIs.

Job description

AIS Malaysia is looking for an experienced, hands-on Senior Resident Engineer (SRE) based in Penang. This role is responsible for leading and supervising railway infrastructure construction works, ensuring compliance with design specifications, contract requirements, safety regulations, quality standards, and project schedules.

The successful candidate will act as the key site representative, coordinating contractors, consultants, authorities, and project stakeholders while ensuring that all railway civil and infrastructure works are executed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with engineering best practices.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead and supervise daily railway construction activities, including civil, structural, track, station, depot, viaduct, utility diversion, temporary works and associated infrastructure works.
• Monitor work progress and ensure compliance with project schedules and contractual milestones.
• Conduct regular site inspections and ensure works are executed according to approved drawings and specifications.
• Review EOT claims, verify work completed, recommend variation orders, manage technical and quality compliance, oversee inspections and testing, administer NCRs, and support project handover documentation.
• Enforce compliance with project Safety, Health, and Environmental requirements and regulatory standards.
• Attend progress meetings, technical workshops, and coordination meetings.
• Facilitate inspections and approvals from relevant authorities.
• Prepare technical reports, progress reports, incident reports, and management updates.
• Monitor project KPIs and reporting requirements.

Job Requirements:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
• Minimum 20 years’ relevant experience in construction supervision, contract administration, and project delivery.
• Proven experience in railway, metro, transportation, bridge, viaduct, depot or large-scale infrastructure projects is highly preferred.
• Strong knowledge of contract administration, QA/QC, SHE requirements, and construction practices.
• Experience in supervising contractors, consultants, and multidisciplinary project teams on large-scale infrastructure projects.
• Professional Engineer (Ir.) registration with BEM is an added advantage.
• Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills.
