Job summary

Sika is a specialty chemicals company seeking an experienced R&D Chemist to join its cementitious materials team in Malaysia. You will work on improving existing formulations and developing new products to meet market needs.

You will evaluate alternative raw materials, organize projects to meet timelines, and perform lab and field tests with customers. You’ll also help maintain lab safety, confidentiality, and BOM accuracy while collaborating across R&D, QC and site teams.

Qualifications

• Minimum bachelor’s degree in science or applied science (Chemistry) plus relevant laboratory experience.
• Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in research and development, focusing on cementitious materials or related areas.
• Able to communicate well in English and Bahasa Malaysia, both spoken and written.

Responsibilities

• Improve existing formulations in terms of performance and/or cost to meet market needs.
• Develop new products to meet market needs.
• Evaluate and approve alternative raw materials for cost and/or performance.
• Organize and prioritize projects to meet project timelines.
• Perform production trials and lab tests with customers when necessary.
• Conduct field tests with customers and/or site personnel for new products.
• Manage BOM updates for raw materials and formulations.
• Ensure lab cleanliness, safety, and environmental compliance.
