Job summary

JCS Design Project Sdn Bhd in Kuala Lumpur is seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor to lead tendering, costing and commercial activities for interior design and fit-out projects. You will review drawings, identify pricing risks, manage budgets and drive profitability while controlling costs.

Collaborating with project managers, designers, site teams and suppliers, you will negotiate terms, prepare reports and mentor junior team members.

Qualifications

• Degree/Diploma in Quantity Surveying or related field.
• Relevant experience in Quantity Surveying / Commercial Management, preferably in construction or interior fit-out.
• Strong knowledge of tendering, costing, procurement, claims, variations and project cost control.
• Good negotiation, analytical and communication skills with strong commercial awareness.
• Able to work independently, manage multiple projects and lead junior team members.

Responsibilities

• Lead tender preparation, costing, BQ, tender submission and commercial evaluation.
• Review drawings, specifications, scope of works and identify pricing risks and cost exposure.
• Manage project budgets, cost control, profitability and GP monitoring throughout the project lifecycle.
• Handle procurement, subcontractor/supplier quotation comparison and commercial negotiation.
• Manage contract administration, progress claims, valuations, final accounts and payment matters.
• Prepare, evaluate and negotiate variations, additional works and contractual claims.
• Work closely with Project Managers, Designers, Site Teams, consultants and subcontractors to verify progress and costs.
• Identify cost-saving and value engineering opportunities while maintaining project quality and design requirements.
• Prepare cost reports, forecasts and commercial updates for management and highlight potential risks or overruns.
• Guide and review junior QS team members, allocate tasks, monitor quotation deadlines and support the team in handling complex QS matters.
• Take ownership of the overall commercial performance and profitability of assigned projects and perform other QS/commercial duties as required.
