Job summary

Carousell Group is seeking a Senior Product Designer to join our Malaysia-based team. You will design buyer/seller experiences across discovery, listing, chat, and lifecycle, collaborating with product managers, engineers, and data partners to ship high-quality experiences in fast release cycles.

You will leverage data and research to identify opportunities, craft end-to-end flows, and build reusable systems that scale across Carousell’s six operating markets.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience designing user-facing digital products.
• Portfolio of shipped work with strong interaction and visual craft.
• Hands-on experience building working prototypes with AI tools.
• Strong product sense, problem solving, and data-informed decisions.
• Clear communication and collaboration with engineers in fast release cycles.

Responsibilities

• Frame user and business problems and shape product direction for Carousell’s Marketplace.
• Use data, metrics and research to understand user behaviour and inform design decisions.

About The Role

The product designers of Carousell Business Unit (BU), within Carousell Group, lead this mission by redefining what online classifieds can be: smart, convenient and safe. We constantly look at data and talk to our users to understand what they’re doing, thinking and feeling along their journey, and we design with empathy for their needs.

We are looking for a Senior Product Designer to join us in Malaysia and help grow the marketplace across Carousell BU’s 6 operating markets. You’ll design experiences for buyers, sellers and the interactions between them, across areas such as discovery, listing, chat and the user lifecycle. You’ll work closely with product managers, engineers, data and business partners to define the right problems, explore solutions quickly, often through working prototypes, and ship high-quality experiences in fast release cycles.

Job Description

• Partner with product managers and engineers to frame user and business problems, define what success looks like, and shape product direction for Carousell’s Marketplace.
• Use data, metrics and research to understand user behaviour, find opportunities, and inform design decisions.
• Design end-to-end experiences, from flows and information architecture to interaction and visual detail, that balance the needs of buyers, sellers and the marketplace as a whole.
• Use AI tools to build working prototypes that let the team test ideas, align stakeholders and learn faster.
• Think in systems: design reusable patterns and components, and consider how a change affects the rest of the product.
• Work hand in hand with engineers in fast release cycles, making sound trade-offs and keeping quality high through to launch.
• Measure the impact of what you ship and feed what you learn back into the next iteration.
• Contribute to design excellence across Carousell through critique, sharing practices, and raising the bar on craft.

Qualifications

You have:

• User obsession and empathy.
• Strong product sense and problem-solving skills: you define problems clearly before jumping to solutions.
• Strong analytical sense: you understand product metrics and use data to frame problems and evaluate outcomes.
• A portfolio of shipped work with strong interaction and visual craft.
• Hands‑on experience building working prototypes with AI tools.
• Strong systems thinking, shown both in how you design and how you reason about the product.
• Experience using research to inform design decisions.
• Clear, concise communication, and experience working closely with engineers in fast release cycles.
• High integrity and the ability to collaborate positively with others.
• 5+ years of experience designing user-facing digital products.
