Job summary

Randstad Malaysia represents a leading client in the engineering and design consultancy space, seeking an experienced Power Engineer to model and analyze complex power systems across HV/MV/LV networks. You will build ETAP models, perform load flow, fault level, and protection coordination studies, and deliver actionable recommendations.

The role requires at least 5 years of relevant experience, strong ETAP proficiency, and excellent technical report-writing abilities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
• Minimum of 5 years of relevant electrical engineering experience with power system studies.
• Proficiency in ETAP (Load Flow, Short Circuit, STAR Protection Coordination, Arc Flash, Harmonics, and Motor Acceleration modules) is mandatory.
• Strong understanding of HV/MV/LV distribution systems, switchgear, generators, UPS, transformers, busways, and IEC/IEEE standards.
• Analytical skills to independently build models, challenge data, and translate results into design decisions.
• Excellent technical report-writing and communication abilities.

Responsibilities

• ETAP Modeling & Network Development: Build, maintain, and troubleshoot detailed ETAP power system models across HV/MV/LV networks.
• Core Power System Studies: Perform Load Flow Analysis, assess transformer sizing and voltage regulation, and verify cable sizing.
• Fault & Overstress Analysis: Conduct Short Circuit / Fault Level studies and identify overstressed components.
• Protection & Safety Engineering: Execute Protection Coordination studies and arc flash analysis with mitigation recommendations.
• Dynamic & Power Quality Analysis: Perform Harmonics assessments and Motor Starting studies.
• Operational Scenario Simulation: Analyze data centre operating modes including utility failure and generator operation.
• Reporting & Collaboration: Prepare comprehensive power system study reports and coordinate with design teams and vendors.
