Job summary

AMD Penang is seeking a technically hands-on Datacenter Server SoC Post-Silicon Validation Engineer to lead test plans and debug efforts for AMD Server products. You will collaborate with Architecture, FW, Validation and SW teams to develop test plans, execution plans, and debug across server CPU platform features and ingredients.

You will also develop validation infrastructure, test feature interactions, and drive root-cause analysis with cross-functional teams to continuously improve platform

Qualifications

• Experience with high-speed IO protocols (PCIe, CXL, SATA) and validation methodologies.
• Ability to design and execute post-silicon validation plans.
• Familiarity with SoC architecture and modern microprocessor cores.
• Understanding of modern x86 server architectures and platform integration.
• Experience with silicon bring-up and debugging in a server environment.
• Proficient in scripting (Python, Perl, etc.) and Linux/Windows OS environments.

Responsibilities

THE TEAM:

The Customer Inside Solutions Engineering team is chartered with the platform enablement, solutions ramp, and product support of all server OEMs, ODMs, MDCs, and the associated extended ingredient server ecosystem. This team has platform engineering central accountability to enable our AMD partners to quickly expand their portfolio and quickly ramp these new platforms to broad launch. This consolidated organization provides the opportunity to scale emerging into new workloads while crafting new levels of efficiency with our more mature MDC and base OEM configurations.

With their unified technical view of the Server BU platform portfolio, they represent the "voice of our customers" back into server development teams throughout AMD. The team will ensure we have one Platform Engineering technical voice to our customers and provide consolidated and prioritized inputs to AMD’s upstream development and planning teams.

The support provided by this team encompasses delivering customer design-win and design-in work partnering on platform bring-up and debug support, ensuring the integration of AMD technologies, developing industry-wide enabling collateral, and providing technical training to key AMD sales support.

The team owns all customer execution plans with a continuous focus on optimizing the path from bring-up to launch. They drive prioritization and execution of debug, root cause, and resolution for customer sightings in partnership with validation and design teams. They are the single voice communication for all critical issues involving potential recalls. And they work closely with product marketing and planning on prioritizing customer requests.

THE PERSON:

Technical, hands-on engineer with leadership qualities responsible for Datacenter Server SoC Post-Silicon system validation on AMD Server products. The individual will work with Architecture, FW, Validation and SW teams to develop test plans, execution plans, and debug of server CPU platform features and ingredients. This role is both breadth and depth at the server platform level.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Develop and execute feature enablement and validation test plans for SoC- and system-level SoC features across all AMD Server products
• Develop post-silicon validation infrastructure (software, hardware, automation environment, and lab setup)
• Test interactions between various SoC features using validation infrastructure
• Debug and drive root-cause analysis for SoC related issues
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams in developing tools to improve SoC validation and debug

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

• Experience in high speed IO protocols - PCIe, CXL, SATA
• Experience developing validation methodologies and infrastructure
• Test plan and test development experience
• Experience with SoC architecture and microprocessor cores
• Understanding of modern x86 microprocessor architecture and Server platform architecture is highly desired.
• Participated in silicon bring up and debug, support to internal engineering teams
• Able to execute and drive success of programs with multiple projects on the go
• Use AI to increase execution productivity and triage tasks
• Debug skills at both SoC and system level
• Familiarity with programming / scripting language (C/C++, Python, Perl, ...)
• Working knowledge of Server OSes (Linux, Windows)
• Must be a self-starting team player with excellent communication skills who can work with minimal guidance
• Forward thinker that drives improvement todevelopment process, code architecture and fosters a spirit of innovation and continuous improvement
• Strong verbal and written English communication skills
• Working knowledge of lab equipment such as oscilloscopes, logic analyzers and protocol analyzers
• Hypervisor experience is a plus with regards to security encryption in virtualized environments
• Self-organizing and the ability multitask based on priorities

ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS:

• Bachelor’s orMaster’s in electrical engineering,computerengineering, or comparable disciplines.
