Job summary

Coherent Corp. in Penang, Malaysia seeks a Diploma-qualified engineer to support product evaluations and yield improvement in optical device testing within a mass production environment.

You will assist product engineers in debug accuracy, scrap-cost control, BOM cost improvements, and safety/compliance with ISO, ESD and cleanroom guidelines. Ability to work with minimum supervision and collaborate with support teams is required.

Qualifications

• Diploma in Engineering (Electrical, Electronics, Optoelectronics or Telecommunications).
• At least 5 years of experience in optical device testing/repair in mass production.
• Familiar with optical devices and circuit diagrams; strong electronics background.
• Can work independently and with support teams; good computer literacy.

Responsibilities

• Assist product engineer in achieving yield target and scrap cost target.
• Support PE evaluations, projects and analysis; BOM cost improvements evaluations.
• Improve debug accuracy through training with PE buddy; retest reduction opportunities.
• Scrap Cost Monitoring by Product.
• Ensure compliance to Safety, ESD, Cleanroom and Housekeeping guidelines.
• Able to work with minimum supervision.
• Perform other duties as directed by superior.
• Derive Continual Improvement; practice Risk-Based Thinking in planning and execution.
