Wah Chan in Malaysia is seeking a Senior Merchandising & Inventory Executive to oversee product merchandising and inventory control across the business. The Merchandising & Inventory Senior Executive is responsible for managing product merchandising and inventory control across the business.
The role ensures accurate inventory movement, including stock-in, stock-out, transfers, returns and adjustments, while investigating and resolving stock discrepancies.
At the same time, the position supports business growth by analysing product performance, identifying market trends, sourcing new products and designs, and recommending appropriate product assortment and replenishment.
The ideal candidate is analytical, highly organised and detail-oriented, with a strong interest in products, retail trends and inventory management.
Monitor and control daily stock-in, stock-out and inventory movements.
Ensure all inventory transactions are accurately recorded in the ERP/WMS/POS or relevant inventory systems.
Perform regular reconciliation between system inventory and physical inventory.
Identify, investigate and resolve inventory discrepancies promptly.
Track stock adjustments, damaged goods, missing inventory, returns and other exceptional inventory movements.
Assist in planning and conducting periodic stock counts and cycle counts.
Identify fast-moving, slow-moving and non-moving SKUs.
Monitor inventory ageing and recommend actions for ageing or excess inventory.
Analyse historical sales and upcoming campaigns to support inventory planning.
Prepare regular inventory reports and management updates.
Work closely with e-commerce, retail, warehouse and procurement teams on stock allocation.
Recommend stock transfers or redistribution based on sales performance and demand.
Research market trends, consumer preferences and competitor products.
Proactively identify new products, designs and product opportunities.
Source potential products and designs from existing and new suppliers.
Communicate with suppliers regarding product specifications, designs, samples, MOQ, pricing and lead times.
Coordinate product samples for internal review and approval.
Evaluate potential new products based on design, marketability, cost, margin and sales potential.
Review stock levels and sales performance to recommend replenishment quantities.
Determine replenishment priorities based on sales velocity, available stock and upcoming campaigns.
Coordinate stock allocation across e-commerce, marketplace, warehouse and retail channels where applicable.
Ensure adequate inventory is available before major campaigns and promotional periods.
Recommend redistribution of inventory from low-performing locations/channels to higher-demand locations/channels.
Monitor and maintain accurate records of defective, damaged and non-sellable inventory
