Job summary

Benchmark is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer in Bayan Lepas, Penang to produce concept and detailed 2D & 3D CAD designs for semiconductor process equipment and related systems. You will develop design documentation, manage cable routing and machine frame design, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to meet specifications.

The role requires 5+ years of mechanical design experience, knowledge of ASME/ISO standards, and strong CAD/PLM tool proficiency.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent required.
Minimum 5 years of relevant experience as a mechanical design engineer or similar role.
Familiar with mechanical drawing standards (ASME, ISO, etc.).
Strong communication skills and ability to work with cross-functional teams.
Willing to travel overseas occasionally as needed.
Experience in designing semiconductor machinery and familiarity with SEMI standards is a plus.

Responsibilities

Create concept and detailed 2D & 3D CAD designs for semiconductor process equipment and related systems.
Develop and review mechanical design documentation, including cable routing and machine frame design.
Perform hand calculations, simulations, and testing related to structure, thermal, and flow characteristics.
Support design reviews and coordinate with System, Electrical, and Manufacturing teams.
Apply DFMEA and risk assessment to design and project decisions.
Communicate effectively with project leaders and stakeholders; manage own schedule.
