Position Summary
The Senior Manufacturing Quality Assurance Manager will lead the Quality function across manufacturing operations in Melaka and multiple Contract Manufacturers, driving a culture of zero defects and continuous improvement. This role ensures products meet customer, regulatory, and industry standards while embedding best practices across the supply chain.
The position requires building strong customer and supplier relationships, ensuring compliance with global certifications and sustainability requirements, and implementing effective corrective and preventive action programs. The leader will manage and develop a large team, strengthen organizational capability, and align quality initiatives with the company’s strategic goals and business performance.
Key responsibilities
- Oversee the Quality function supporting manufacturing operations in Melaka and across multiple Contract Manufacturers, with a strong focus on driving quality towards zero defects.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, ensuring alignment with their expectations and requirements.
- Ensure product quality consistently meets customer specifications, engineering standards, and regulatory requirements, while positioning the Quality function as an integral part of the overall business.
- Lead the development and continuous improvement of company-wide Quality policies and processes, embedding best practices across the supply chain to meet evolving customer requirements.
- Prepare regular performance and management reports, and facilitate Senior Management Quality Review Meetings.
- Manage the internal customer and supplier quality reporting processes, and lead customer quality action team meetings.
- Develop, implement, and monitor corrective and preventive action plans aimed at reducing rework, scrap, and warranty costs.
- Strengthen the Quality department through effective talent acquisition, performance management, and quality-focused training initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with global corporate social responsibility (CSR) standards, environmental and certification requirements, customer audits, supplier codes of conduct, sustainability frameworks, and international obligations such as CSR, GRI, EICC, ISO, and other supply chain transparency requirements.
- Oversee the development, documentation, and continuous improvement of quality processes within the Melaka facility.
- Provide leadership in managing large associate teams, ensuring clear direction, accountability, and engagement.
- Develop and evaluate the performance of the Management Team to drive operational excellence and business results.
- Lead, coach, and mentor the team, with a focus on succession planning and leadership development.
- Ensure adherence to all company policies, procedures, and applicable legislative requirements.
- Contribute to the planning, execution, and management of the operational budget.
- Oversee the welfare and development of subordinates, including performance appraisals, training, counseling, and motivation.
- Conduct systematic reviews of overall quality capabilities in Melaka, provide technical coaching, and implement improvement plans.
- Keep management updated on quality-related developments, best practices, and emerging trends relevant to the business.
- Advise on quality matters to ensure all practices and actions are aligned with the company’s strategic roadmap and business model.
Requirements and Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Quality, Manufacturing, Industrial, Mechanical, or Electrical), Operations Management, or a closely related field.
- Master’s degree preferred. Professional training and certifications in Quality (e.g., ASQ or other international quality organizations) are a plus.
Experience
- Minimum of 10 years of direct leadership experience in semiconductor equipment, precision electromechanical systems, robotic equipment, and/or PC/electronic equipment manufacturing, with a strong technical background.
- At least 5 years of management-level responsibility in Quality.
- Demonstrated success operating within a matrix organization.
- Proven track record working with global supply chains and multinational companies.
Skills & Technical Requirements
- Proficient in probability and statistical management tools, Design for Quality (DFx), Six Sigma, 8D methodology, and program management, with the ability to execute comprehensive quality programs under tight deadlines and customer-driven pressures.
- Strong background in Quality Systems Management, including conformance, documentation, implementation, and registration processes for ISO 9001 and other industry/customer quality standards.
- High energy, with the ability to work effectively under pressure.
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Proven ability to interface with customers and suppliers.
- Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
Job Conditions
- Work is performed in both office and manufacturing/laboratory environments.
- Domestic and international travel required, up to 20%.
Salary: MYR16,000 – MYR22,000 per month
