A leading technology firm in Malaysia seeks a Senior Manufacturing Engineer to develop methods and maintain test protocols for ultrafast laser systems. This role involves coordinating closely with design engineering, conducting failure analysis, and leading technical improvement projects. The ideal candidate holds a degree in Photonics or a related field, has strong problem-solving skills, and ideally possesses experience with laser systems. Fresh graduates are also encouraged to apply.
Develops, implements, and maintains methods, operation sequences, and test protocols in the manufacture of ultrafast laser systems, including optical/laser alignment & test procedures.
Interfaces with design engineering in coordinating the release of engineering change or new products, or provides an improvement proposal for product, process, or testing.
Involves a laser setup using sophisticated optical techniques and laser calibration using electronic control.
Works on problems of diverse scope where data analysis requires evaluating identifiable factors. Exercises judgment within generally defined practices and policies when selecting methods and techniques to obtain solutions.
Work from laser schematics and electrical diagrams, written and verbal descriptions, layouts, or defined plans to perform testing, fault diagnosis, and troubleshooting functions.
Lead all failure analysis events to identify root causes. Provide in-depth evaluation & analysis of situations and data. Develop and implement effective corrective actions.
Work with cross-functional teams to deliver laser-related development solutions, product & process cost reductions, and value engineering programs.
Provide technical leadership. Lead engineering efforts in product/technology transfers.
Lead technical improvement projects and support laser-related manufacturing to create a continuous improvement culture.
Bachelor’s degree or Master's degree in Photonics/Electrical/Electronic Engineering discipline or equivalent.
Preferably with a minimum of 3 years’ experience in photonics devices or system-related fields; however, fresh graduates are also encouraged to apply.
Skilled in laser systems, optics, and photonics components is a plus.
Basic programming (LabVIEW/MATLAB) and Power BI skills are an advantage.
Possess good interpersonal, analytical, and communication skills.
Must possess excellent structured problem-solving skills.
