Job summary

Prudential plc is seeking a Senior Manager, Medical & Technical Excellence to lead medical governance and underwriting excellence across Affluent and mass-market segments.

You will partner with Medical Officers, underwriters, claims teams, reinsurers, and product teams to ensure fair, well-documented decisions in line with risk appetite and regulatory requirements. Strong leadership and digital capabilities are essential.

Qualifications

• MBBS or equivalent medical degree required.
• 10+ years insurance underwriting and claims experience.
• Deep expertise in risk assessment and medical underwriting.
• Experience in risk management, new business underwriting, and portfolio management.
• Strong digital/technology skills including AI, analytics and automation.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
• High integrity and discretion with confidential information.

Responsibilities

• Establish and govern medical and underwriting frameworks, guidelines, referral protocols, and quality standards across all segments.
• Lead governance and review of complex, appealed, and declined underwriting cases with clear rationale.
• Provide authoritative medical and technical advice on complex underwriting and non-health claims matters.
• Build partnerships with reinsurers, hospital networks, medical specialists, LIAM, and stakeholders.
• Develop and execute annual training roadmaps to sustain technical capability.
• Ensure consistent application of guidelines and governance through training.
• Architect and lead the underwriting strategy for Affluent segments.
• Mentor a high-performing team and drive innovation in digital underwriting solutions.
• Serve as technical authority for complex Affluent cases and guide cross-functional teams.
• Support organizational redesign and change management aligned with business goals.
