Job summary

Direct Lending, a profitable Malaysian fintech, is hiring a Senior Loan Consultant who may assume Assistant Team Lead responsibilities. You will assess loan eligibility, communicate with customers on our online platform, and deliver a remarkable borrowing experience.

Two tracks are offered: Track 1 for senior contributors with team leadership duties, and Track 2 for senior contributors focused on personal performance.

Qualifications

• Experience in customer services and/or credit is an added advantage.
• No finance and credit experience required; training will be provided.
• Track 1 candidates should be able to coach peers and cover Team Lead during absences.

Responsibilities

• Assist incoming customers throughout the loan process, from enquiry to disbursement.
• Handle only inbound enquiries from our online platform — no site visits or cold‑calling.
• Understand customers’ financing needs and recommend suitable products; follow up for a great borrowing experience.
• Apply lending criteria to assess eligibility; maintain proactive follow up with customers.
• Identify feedback and communicate it to the team for improvement.
• Assist in marketing and brand awareness campaigns.
• Assist team lead in guiding & supporting team members to achieve goals.

About The Opportunity

We are hiring an experienced Loan Consultant who is passionate about helping people secure financing that fits their needs. You will assess loan eligibility, communicate with customers across our online platform, and deliver a remarkable borrowing experience.

We are open to two tracks within this hiring round:

Track 1 — Senior Loan Consultant (Assistant Team Lead). Senior individual contributor plus structured responsibility to support the Team Lead in guiding the team, stepping in as Team Lead cover when needed, and helping new team members ramp up.

Track 2 — Senior Loan Consultant. Senior individual contributor focused on personal performance and customer experience. No team leadership responsibilities.

You can indicate which track you are interested in when you apply. We will discuss fit during the interview process and confirm the track at the offer stage.

Your Core Responsibilities

• Assist incoming customers throughout the loan process, from enquiry, loan eligibility checks, documentation to disbursement of funds
• Handle only inbound enquiries from our online platform — no site visits or cold‑calling
• Understand customers’ financing needs and recommend financing products that are most suitable to them. Follow-up diligently and deliver a remarkable borrowing experience for each customer
• Familiar and apply the company and lender’s lending criteria in assessing customer loan eligibility
• Maintain proactive follow up with customers to ensure a smooth & seamless application experience
• Identify and communicate feedback from customers with the team for continuous improvement
• Assist in marketing and brand awareness campaigns
• Assist team lead in guiding & supporting team members to achieve departmental goals & service standards (for track 1)

Who You Are

• Customer-first mindset and keen to help people in solving their problems
• Attention to detail, organised, team player, hungry to learn, result orientated and good sense of urgency
• Communication: Good command of English and Bahasa Malaysia. You explain things clearly. You write professionally. You can have difficult conversations with customers without losing patience.
• Ownership: You take responsibility for your cases and your customers. You don't wait to be told to follow up. When something goes wrong, you fix it and learn from it. Enjoy solving problems and dare to challenge conventional thinking
• Experience in customer services and/or credit will be an added advantage
• No finance and credit experience are welcome to apply. Training will be provided.
• Track 1 candidates specifically: Comfortable stepping in for the Team Lead. Able to coach peers without being heavy-handed. Calm in escalations.
