Job summary

Oxydata is seeking an experienced Senior Linux Administrator to maintain the reliability, security, and performance of Linux servers and associated infrastructure. This contract role is based in Malaysia and requires hands-on expertise and proactive maintenance.

Responsibilities include installation, patch management, and security hardening; virtualization with VMware and RHEV; and monitoring with Nagios, Prometheus, Grafana.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, IT, or related field or equivalent work experience.
• Proven experience as a Linux System Administrator or similar role.
• Strong knowledge of Linux operating systems and shell scripting.
• Familiarity with virtualization/hypervisors (RHEV Hypervisor, VMware).
• Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Install, configure, and maintain Linux servers (Red Hat, CentOS).
• Perform regular system updates, patch management, and security hardening.
• Manage user accounts, permissions, and file systems.
• Implement and manage monitoring tools (Nagios, Prometheus, Grafana) to ensure system health.
• Respond to alerts promptly, troubleshoot issues, and implement corrective actions.
• Experience with hypervisors like RHEV Hypervisor and VMware.
• Create and manage virtual machines (VMs) and maintain virtualized environments.
• Identify and resolve system and application-related issues.
• Perform root cause analysis and implement preventive measures.
