Job summary

NEXT Ventures is a global fintech group, seeking a Senior Legal Counsel to own the legal layer that keeps the business operating safely and commercially at scale. You will advise on commercial, corporate, regulatory, and technology law, manage external counsel, and build frameworks for multi-jurisdictional operations.

You report to the Chief Legal Officer and drive matters from assessment through resolution, handling licensing, privacy, IP, and governance across our international entities.

Qualifications

• Qualified lawyer with professional experience appropriate for a Senior Legal Counsel role.
• Proven track record drafting, reviewing, and negotiating commercial contracts.
• Strong corporate law background — structuring, governance, and transactions.
• Experience navigating cross-border and multi-jurisdictional legal matters.
• Solid understanding of regulatory and compliance requirements in financial or technology sectors.

Responsibilities

• Draft, review, and negotiate a broad range of commercial contracts — service and vendor agreements, technology agreements, partnership and marketing arrangements, NDAs, and other commercial instruments.
• Provide legal support on corporate matters including group structuring and reorganisations, corporate governance, intercompany arrangements, and general corporate housekeeping.
• Handle cross-border and multi-jurisdictional legal matters across the Group’s international entities and operations.
• Deliver legal and regulatory support to fintech and financial services businesses, including licensing, regulatory interpretation, and compliance framework implementation.
• Govern technology arrangements — software licensing, technology procurement, trading platform agreements, and technology provider contracts.
• Advise on privacy, data protection, and data-sharing matters arising from our operations and commercial relationships.
• Advise on intellectual property matters: ownership, protection, and licensing of IP and technology assets.
• Support the Group's legal operations and strategic transactions — contract lifecycle management, legal process optimisation, and dispute resolution in collaboration with external counsel.
• Conduct independent legal and regulatory research across multiple jurisdictions and translate findings into clear, commercially workable recommendations.
• Liaise with external counsel, corporate service providers, regulators, and professional advisers as required.
• Serve as a trusted day-to-day legal adviser to internal stakeholders across the Group, working closely with business, compliance, and operational teams.

Your Role in Our Mission

As Senior Legal Counsel, you own the legal layer that keeps NEXT Ventures operating safely and commercially at scale. You sit at the intersection of commercial, corporate, regulatory, and technology law — advising business teams, managing external counsel, and building the frameworks that let the Group move decisively in complex, multi-jurisdictional environments. You report to the Chief Legal Officer and take matters from first assessment through to resolution.

Your Impact

• Strong legal drafting, negotiation, analytical, and problem-solving skills
• Excellent written and spoken English
• Self-directed — you take ownership of matters from start to finish and know when to elevate to the CLO
• Comfortable managing multiple priorities in a fast-moving, international environment
• Commercially minded and pragmatic, with an instinct for assessing legal risk against business objectives
• Experience with fintech, regulated financial services, financial markets, or technology-driven businesses is a strong advantage
