Job summary

UNIKL MFI invites applications for a Senior Lecturer in the Mechanical Section. The role focuses on delivering lectures, tutorials, labs, and supervising research projects at undergraduate and postgraduate levels.

The ideal candidate holds a PhD in Engineering (Mechanical preferred) and Ir. status with BEM recognition, with strong teaching, research, and industry-collaboration capabilities to advance accreditation and program quality.

Qualifications

• PhD in Engineering or closely related field.
• Ir. (PE) status recognised by BEM or equivalent.
• Proven track record in teaching and supervision.
• Active research portfolio with publications and projects.
• Experience with industry collaborations and knowledge transfer.
• Ability to support accreditation processes and curriculum development.

Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality lectures, tutorials, laboratory, and practical sessions in engineering subjects.
• Supervise undergraduate and postgraduate research projects, including Final Year Projects.
• Conduct industry-related research, consultancy, innovation, and knowledge transfer projects.
• Develop, review, and update course materials, teaching resources, and assessments for accreditation.
• Establish and maintain industry-academic partnerships to support research and employability initiatives.
• Contribute to curriculum development, continuous quality improvement, and academic accreditation activities.
• Participate in faculty administration and academic committees as assigned.

KEY ROLES :

• Deliver high-quality lectures, tutorials, laboratory, and practical sessions in relevant engineering subjects.
• Supervise and mentor undergraduate and postgraduate research projects, including Final Year Projects and related academic activities.
• Conduct and contribute to industry-related research, consultancy, innovation, and knowledge transfer projects.
• Develop, review, and update course materials, teaching resources, and assessments in line with EAC, BEM, and MBOT accreditation requirements.
• Establish and maintain strong industry-academic partnerships to support research collaboration, student development, industrial training, and employability initiatives.
• Contribute to curriculum development, continuous quality improvement, and academic accreditation activities.
• Participate actively in faculty administration, academic committees, and other institutional activities as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS :

• Possess PhD in a relevant Engineering discipline, preferably with a Mechanical Engineering background.
• Must hold Ir. (Professional Engineer) status recognised by the Board of Engineers Malaysia (BEM) or an equivalent professional body.
• Strong industry experience and research expertise, with a passion for education and developing future engineers.
• Demonstrated experience in academic teaching, professional training, research, publications, or industry-related projects.
• Prior university teaching or training experience will be an added advantage.
• Proven track record in research, scholarly publications, consultancy, or industry projects.
• Proficient in relevant engineering software, emerging technologies, and contemporary teaching methodologies.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills, with the ability to mentor and develop students and junior academic staff.
• Ability to contribute effectively to academic teaching, research activities, industry collaboration, curriculum development, and academic management.
