Job summary

OFS Malaysia, a MODEC Group company, seeks a Senior Lead Engineer, Mechanical Marine to drive the mechanical design and specification of offshore package equipment. You will lead design activities in FEED and detailed engineering for offshore projects based in KL, coordinating with project teams and vendors.

The role requires strong leadership, deep knowledge of marine mechanical systems, and experience in regulatory compliance.

Senior Lead Engineer, Mechanical Marine

We are currently based at KL Eco City, Malaysia.

• Conversant with specifications and requirements for mechanical marine package equipment and systems and requirements of Industry Codes and Standards, Classification Society rules and all relevant Regulatory.
• Responsible for the design and selection of packaged equipment on EPC projects through the various engineering work phases (i.e. FEED studies, and detailed engineering for Offshore, FPSO Projects)
• Plans and directs technical specifications/standards and Requisitions for engineers. Ensures all technical requirements incorporated in engineering deliverables. Reviews them and validates with the Section head, Project Management Team and client.
• Independently evaluates the technical aspects of bids received from suppliers and concludes technical assessment. Directs others to perform a technical bid evaluation process ensuring selected vendors meet technical/engineering and delivery requirements.
• Reviews drawings/documents from team members as well as 3rd party-generated study reports and ensures the timely provision of accurate documents/specifications to the vendor/Engineering sub-contractor to enable them to execute their work and deliverables.
• Oversees the technical and administrative management of the project mechanical team and ensures quality/schedule of deliverables from the team.
• Provides technical/engineering support/visit and advice for quality work at supplier shop and Construction/Commissioning work at site.
• Independently manages/provides advice on solutions to technical/engineering and related issues by reviewing the issues/data and analysis and evaluating various options/measures using expert knowledge, seasoned experience.
• Ensures business activities and decisions conform to the laws and regulations and demonstrates high standard of ethical behaviour.
