Job summary

Cognizant is seeking a Senior Software Engineer in Kuala Lumpur to design, develop, and maintain enterprise-grade Java applications. You will work on microservices, frontend enhancements with Angular, and cloud deployments in AWS EKS.

Responsibilities include REST APIs, Oracle database optimization, Hazelcast caching, messaging with ActiveMQ, and strong CI/CD with Jenkins. Collaboration with cross-functional teams and mentoring juniors are key parts of the role.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, Software Engineering, or related field.
• Minimum 5-8 years of software development experience.
• Experience in Insurance domain is advantageous.
• Strong hands-on experience with Java 8/11 and Spring Boot.
• Experience developing REST APIs and microservices architecture.
• Proficient in Angular frontend development and Node.js backend.
• Knowledge of Oracle Database, SQL and performance tuning.
• Experience deploying in AWS/EKS, CI/CD and DevOps practices.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test and maintain scalable Java/Spring Boot applications.
• Build and enhance frontend apps using Angular; support Node.js when needed.
• Develop RESTful APIs and microservices-based architectures.
• Design and optimize database schemas using Oracle Database.
• Implement caching and distributed computing with Hazelcast.
• Integrate messaging with ActiveMQ; build event-driven systems.
• Deploy and monitor apps in containerized cloud environments (AWS EKS).
• Maintain CI/CD pipelines with Jenkins and DevOps best practices.
• Collaborate with stakeholders, architects, QA, and developers throughout SDLC.
• Troubleshoot production issues and contribute to code reviews and security practices.
• Mentor junior developers and contribute to design discussions.
