Job summary

Asia Pacific University of Technology and Innovation (APU) in Malaysia seeks a seasoned Internal Auditor to lead the risk-based annual internal audit plan across financial, operational, regulatory, IT, and education-sector domains. You will maintain the Audit Universe, update risk ratings, and engage with the Audit Committee and senior management to align priorities with the institution's risk appetite.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or related discipline.
• Minimum 12 years of progressive internal audit experience with cross-domain coverage.
• Experience as a sole practitioner or independent contributor preferred.
• Strong command of written and spoken English; able to present to board-level audiences.

Responsibilities

• Develop, maintain, and execute a risk-based Annual Internal Audit Plan across financial, operational, compliance, IT, and education-sector regulatory domains.
• Maintain Audit Universe and update audit risk ratings as the operating environment evolves.
• Engage with Audit Committee and senior management to align priorities with risk appetite.
• Independently execute end-to-end audit engagements and prepare evidence-based reports.
• Track findings and action plans to closure; escalate high-risk items to the Committee when needed.
• Conduct structured regulatory and compliance audits (ISO 9001, QAA IQR, MQA/MOHE, POPA, EMGS, etc.).
• Assess IT general controls, application-level controls, and investigate IT incidents or vulnerabilities.
• Lead or support fraud investigations and ensure objective, confidential reporting.
