Job summary

ELSA in Malaysia is seeking a Senior Instrument Engineer on a 1-year contract to lead commissioning for electrical and instrumentation systems in Kuala Lumpur/Sarawak.

You will develop plans, ensure quality procedures, supervise testing, and coordinate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver a safe, compliant handover to Operations.

Applicants should have a Bachelor's in Electrical/Electronic engineering and at least 8 years' experience in oil and gas commissioning.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical/Electronic engineering (or equivalent).
• Minimum 8 years in relevant engineering/commissioning work, 5+ in a similar role.
• Experience in oil & gas industry commissioning.
• Knowledge of international electrical/instrumentation standards.
• Registered member of Board of Engineers Malaysia (BEM).
• Strong leadership and cross-disciplinary coordination.

• Develop commissioning plans and procedures for electrical/instrumentation systems.
• Lead and coordinate the commissioning team during startup.
• Oversee testing/commissioning per procedures and specs.
• Prepare turnover docs for handover to Operations.
• Coordinate with engineering, construction and operations to resolve issues.

Requirement(s)

• Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, or an equivalent relevant qualification.
• Minimum 8 years of relevant experience, including at least 5 years in a similar role or capacity.
• Relevant engineering and commissioning experience in the oil and gas industry.
• Good knowledge of international electrical and instrumentation standards, applicable design codes, and industry practices.
• Proven competency in testing and commissioning electrical and instrumentation systems.
• Familiarity with oil and gas construction practices, project specifications, and quality requirements.
• Must be registered as a member of the Board of Engineers Malaysia (BEM).
• Strong leadership, coordination, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to lead commissioning teams and work effectively with multidisciplinary stakeholders.
