Job summary

Wipro Malaysia is seeking a Senior Infrastructure Engineer specializing in VMware virtualization and hybrid platforms. The role covers managing enterprise-scale environments, ensuring high availability, incident management, and cross-functional collaboration across cloud, storage, containers, OS, and networking.

You will lead VMware platform operations (vSphere/ESXi/vCenter), handle complex incidents, and coordinate with NetApp, OpenShift, Linux, Windows, and networking teams.

Qualifications

• Must have expert-level VMware administration (vSphere, ESXi, vCenter) and high-availability features.
• Experience with NetApp storage basics, OpenShift cluster health, and Linux/Windows server admin.
• Strong incident management, RCA, and cross-team collaboration abilities.

Responsibilities

• Triaging and resolving high-priority incidents (P1/P2).
• Monitor SLAs and drive proactive problem escalation.
• Perform performance tuning, capacity planning, and optimization.
• Lead automation efforts using PowerCLI, Shell, and Ansible.
• Support DR tests, backups, and failover activities.
• Maintain runbooks and technical SOPs for the team.

Areas of Responsibility

• Triaging and resolution of tickets-Provide resolution to high priority incident (P2) tickets, performing advanced troubleshooting and root cause analysis to ensure timely closure.
• SLA Monitoring-Ensure SLA compliance for assigned technology areas and ensure proactive escalation management.
• Performance tuning and optimization-Analyse system performance data, coordinate findings on system behaviour, and support capacity planning initiatives to enhance overall system efficiency.
• Perform system Improvements-Create mitigation measures to evaluate new tools or improvements by collaborating with technical teams.
• Handling disaster recovery-Perform security assessments and recovery drills, and implement necessary controls to ensure compliance with established security standards.
• Reporting and stakeholder engagement-Participate in weekly and monthly service review meetings, provide updates on performance and issues, and support stakeholder communication to ensure transparency and service alignment.
• Team Management-Collaborate with team members to resolve open tickets and service requests.
• Knowledge base and continuous learning-Contribute to updating SOPs, knowledge articles and maintaining the knowledge repository for the purpose of future ticket resolution.

Role Summary

We are looking for a highly skilled Infrastructure Engineer with deep expertise in VMware virtualization and strong L2 capabilities across cloud, storage, containers, OS, and network domains. The role involves managing enterprise scale environments, ensuring high availability, performance optimization, and supporting incident management across multiple infrastructure layers.

Key Responsibilities

• Act as single point of contact for the Site/Infra
• Lead VMware platform operations (vSphere, ESXi, vCenter) including provisioning, performance tuning, patching, and troubleshooting
• Handle complex incidents (P1/P2) and drive RCA and permanent fixes across infrastructure layers
• Perform L2-level support for:
  • NetApp Storage (volumes, snapshots, performance checks)
  • OpenShift (cluster health, pods, nodes, deployments)
  • Linux (RHEL/CentOS) and Windows Server environments
  • Network issues (basic routing, firewall, connectivity debugging)
• Ensure infrastructure availability, capacity planning, and compliance adherence
• Collaborate with L3 teams/vendors for critical issues and escalations
• Automate repetitive tasks using scripts/tools (PowerCLI, Shell, Ansible)
• Support DR activities, failover testing, and backup validation
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives (automation, monitoring optimization, alert reduction)
• Maintain technical documentation, SOPs, and runbooks

Technical Skills Required

Primary (Must Have)

• Expert-level VMware
  • vSphere, ESXi, vCenter administration
  • HA, DRS, vMotion, snapshots, datastore management
  • Performance tuning and troubleshooting

Secondary (L2 Level – Must Have)

• NetApp Storage
  • Basic administration, volume management, snapshots, replication awareness
• OpenShift / Containers
  • Cluster monitoring, pod troubleshooting, basic deployments
• Linux
  • System administration, logs analysis, patching, troubleshooting
• Windows Server
  • AD basics, services troubleshooting, patching
• Networking
  • TCP/IP, DNS, routing fundamentals, firewall basics

Good to Have

• Exposure to cloud platforms (Azure/AWS/GCP)
• Experience in monitoring tools (Grafana, Dynatrace, Prometheus, etc.)
• Automation using PowerCLI, Ansible, Python
• Knowledge of ITIL processes (Incident, Change Management)
• Certification in any of the above technologies
• Knowledge of AI /LLM/ML

Mandatory Skills: VMware Server Admin. Experience: 5-8 Years.
