Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science / IT or diploma in a relevant field.
  • 12+ years IT experience with 5+ years in resilience, architecture, operations, or infrastructure assurance.
  • Strong expertise in IT infrastructure domains (compute, storage, backup, network, middleware, cloud).
  • Understanding of resilience principles: redundancy, high availability, failover, disaster recovery and backup strategies.
  • Ability to assess complex architectures and recommend resilience improvements.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Proven track record leading resilience or high-availability improvement initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Provide senior-level administration and technical ownership of DNS, DHCP, NTP, internal CA/PKI, AD, and Syslog systems.
  • Proactively monitor and optimize availability, capacity, performance, and resilience of shared services.
  • Lead complex incident troubleshooting and root cause analysis for high-impact incidents.
  • Design, review, and implement upgrades, patches, and architectural improvements to shared infrastructure services.
  • Drive service automation, standardization, and continuous process improvement.
  • Lead integration of shared infrastructure with cloud, hybrid, and security platforms.
  • Ensure compliance with security policies, audit requirements and regulatory standards.
  • Enforce secure configuration standards and hardening practices.
  • Support certificate lifecycle management and security practices.
  • Collaborate with technology tower leads to recommend design improvements and resilience enhancements.
  • Support infrastructure projects dependent on core services availability and reliability.
  • Produce architecture documentation, runbooks, and operational procedures.

Job description

The individual will provide technical leadership within the Infrastructure Delivery function at Great Eastern, with accountability for the design, engineering, reliability, and resilience of the shared infrastructure services.

This role is responsible for the architecture, implementation, administration, and continuous improvement of core enterprise services that underpin the organization’s IT environment. These services include DNS, DHCP, NTP, internal Certificate Authority, Active Directory, and Syslog services. As a senior engineer, the role ensures these shared services are secure, highly available, compliant, and resilient, supporting critical business operations while safeguarding the organization against outages, cyber threats, and operational risks. The individual acts a technical authority, providing guidance to engineers, influencing design standards, and partnering closely with application, security, and infrastructure teams.

The role also plays a key part in disaster recovery, continuity planning, and resilience assurance, supporting governance, regulatory compliance, and organizational readiness to respond effectively to incidents and disruptions.

  • Lead the integration of shared infrastructure services with cloud, hybrid, and security platforms, ensuring secure and resilient end-to-end service delivery.
  • Ensure compliance with security policies, audit requirements, and regulatory standards.
  • Enforce secure configuration standards and hardening practices to reduce vulnerabilities and operational risks.
  • Support certificate lifecycle management and security practices.
  • Partner closely with technology tower leads (e.g., Compute, Network, Backup, Storage) to recommend design improvements and resilience enhancements.
  • Support infrastructure projects that depend on infrastructure core services availability and reliability.
  • Produce and maintain high-quality architecture documentation, operational procedures, standards, and runbooks, ensuring knowledge continuity.
  • Takes accountability in considering business and regulatory compliance risks and takes appropriate steps to mitigate the risks.
  • Maintains awareness of industry trends on regulatory compliance, emerging threats and technologies in order to understand the risk and better safeguard the company.
  • Highlights any potential concerns /risks and proactively shares best risk management practices.

  • More than 12 years of IT experience, with more than 5 years in resilience, architecture, operations, or infrastructure assurance roles.
  • Solid understanding of resilience principles such as redundancy, high availability, failover, disaster recovery, and backup strategies.
  • Ability to assess complex architectures and recommend resilience improvements.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills to influence technology teams and project managers.
  • Proven track record of leading resilience or high-availability improvement initiatives.
  • Experience collaborating across multiple technology towers and project delivery teams.
  • Strong technical expertise in: Microsoft Active Directory (user/group management, GPO, domain controllers).
  • DNS & DHCP administration (Microsoft DNS, Infoblox, or equivalent).
  • NTP configuration and synchronization best practices.
  • PKI/Internal Certificate Authority (certificate lifecycle, CRL, OCSP, key management).
  • Networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, firewalls, routing).
  • Security principles (authentication, encryption, TLS, certificate validation).
  • Knowledge of scripting and automation (PowerShell, Python, or Ansible) will be an advantage.
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
  • Core Infrastructure & Microsoft Windows related certifications are preferred.
  • High level of integrity, takes accountability of work and good attitude over teamwork.
