Job summary

VTech in Malaysia seeks an experienced IBM i/AS-400 software developer to design, build, and sustain applications using RPG III/IV/RPGLE and CL. You will support the VIMIX system, analyze issues, and implement robust interfaces with external systems, while maintaining thorough documentation and adhering to security standards.

The role emphasizes independent work and teamwork within IT, with ongoing opportunities to learn new technologies and contribute to manufacturing ERP enhancements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree or higher in Information Systems, Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or related discipline.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and maintain applications using RPG (RPG III, RPG IV, and RPGLE).
• Develop, modify, and maintain CL programs to support system operations and automation.
• Develop and enhance batch and online programs to meet business requirements.
• Analyze, troubleshoot, and resolve application and production issues promptly.
• Provide maintenance, technical support, and enhancements for the VIMIX System (AS/400).
• Monitor system jobs, logs, and overall performance for stability.
• Develop interfaces between the VIMIX System and external applications.
• Perform unit testing, SIT, and assist UAT to ensure quality.
• Prepare technical documentation including specifications and guides.
• Collaborate with users and cross-functional teams to gather requirements and implement improvements.
• Ensure developments comply with standards, security policies, and coding practices.
• Support system upgrades and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Perform other duties as assigned by IT Section Head or Management.
