A leading manufacturing company in Johor Bahru, Malaysia is seeking a Safety, Health, and Environmental Manager. The role involves ensuring compliance with local laws and corporate standards, investigating workplace incidents, and promoting EHS training across departments. Candidates should hold a relevant Bachelor's degree and possess a minimum of 10 years of experience in the field. This position requires strong leadership and excellent communication skills to foster a safe working environment.
Responsibles in Safety, Health and Environmental Management system ensuring full compliance to the local laws and regulations as well as compliance to the corporate standards via good coordination of relevant personnel in various department.
Investigate any accident, near miss accident, dangerous occurrence, occupational poisoning or disease which has happened at the work place to prevent further recurrence.
Advice the department or any person in charge of a place of work on the measures to be taken in the interests of the Safety and Health of the persons employed in the place of work.
Collects, analyze and maintain statistics on any accident which have occurred at the place of work to study the accident pattern so that current issues are within control.
Collaborating with Safety Committees and HR to identify relevant EHS training needs and to implement those training to ensure all employees are equipped with relevant EHS skills and knowledge that will help them to perform their work safely while meeting all the regulatory standards.
Inspect the place of work to determine whether any machineries, plant, equipment, substance, appliance or process is of such nature liable to cause bodily injury or property damage to any person working in the work place.
Maintain report, register and administer scheduled waste on daily and annual basis.
In general, the incumbent is to proactively promote, participate and provide supports in the development and maintenance of the Environment, Health and Safety Management System (EHSMS) in a manner that will help to eliminate occupational injuries and illnesses at the factory through consistent implementations of the established standards.
Candidate must possess at least a Bachelor's Degree, Post Graduate Diploma or Professional Degree in Engineering (Environmental/Health/Safety) or equivalent.
Registered Safety and Health Officer with DOSH
Minimum 10 year(s) of working experience in the safety, health and environmental field preferably in manufacturing environment
Excellent communication at all levels within the organization and external parties.
Self-starter and able to drive activities to meet organizational objectives.
Well versed with OSHA 1994 Act and Environment Quality Act 1974
Proven leadership and a strong team player
