Job summary

Centific in Malaysia is seeking a Senior Hardware Validation Engineer to own electrical and system verification for multiple products from prototype to mass production, collaborating with CM labs and US-based engineers.

You will develop high-level test plans, set priorities, drive root-cause analysis, and report verification status across time zones. This is a hands-on role requiring 5+ years in hardware verification and strong SI/PI knowledge.

Qualifications

• BS in Electrical Engineering or equivalent practical experience.
• 5+ years of hardware verification/validation experience in consumer electronics labs.
• Subject matter expertise in signal integrity, power integrity, and multiple domains (battery/charging, sensors, memory/storage, thermal).
• Experience validating interfaces (I2C, SPI, UART, I2S) and knowledge of at least two high-speed protocols (USB, PCIe, MIPI C-PHY/D-PHY, DisplayPort/eDP).
• Hands-on with lab equipment and ability to read schematics/layouts.
• Experience with CM/ODM/JDM or component vendors.
• Proven ability to own test plans and drive issues to closure with cross-functional teams.
• Excellent written and verbal English communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Own electrical and system verification for assigned subsystems; develop test plans and coverage, set entry/exit criteria per build.
• Take ownership of verification activities at CM/vendor labs, ensuring measurement techniques and documentation quality.
• Execute bring-up, characterization, and debugging of prototype hardware across power, signal integrity, memory/storage, sensors, thermal, and system coexistence.
• Drive failures to root cause and classify issues; file high-quality bugs with steps, IDs, artifacts, and gate impact.
• Capture complete metadata for every test run and maintain traceability to requirements.
• Bridge communication between in-region verification and US-based engineers; represent status in triage and build reviews.
• Collaborate with EE design, FW, thermal, mechanical, and TPM teams to close verification gaps.
• Improve verification capabilities over time; automate test procedures and reporting.

Position: Senior Hardware Validation Engineer

Summary

Verification team is responsible for developing and deploying verification capabilities that inform product decisions and drive design maturity across

VR and XR portfolio. As a Senior Hardware Validation Engineer based in Malaysia, you

will own electrical and system-level verification for one or more products from early

prototype through mass production, working on-site with our contract manufacturers (CM) and

acting as the technical bridge between in-region execution and Meta engineering teams in the US.

This is a hands-on senior individual contributor role. You will develop high-level test

plans, set test priorities with cross-functional partners, drive failures to root cause, and

represent verification status at build readiness reviews. A successful engineer in this role

works with minimal supervision across multiple projects in a fast-paced environment and

communicates clearly across time zones and cultures.

Responsibilities

• Own electrical and system verification for assigned subsystems: develop high-level test

plans, define test priorities and coverage, and set entry/exit criteria per build (Proto, EVT, DVT, PVT, MP).

• Take operational and technical ownership of verification activities at CM and vendor labs

ensure adherence to measurement techniques, setup integrity, and quality of documentation.

• Execute and oversee bring-up, characterization, and debug of prototype hardware across power, signal integrity, memory/storage, sensors, thermal, and system coexistence domains.
• Drive failures to root cause and classify them as product, test, environment, config, or

handling issues; file high-quality bugs with repro steps, build/config IDs, artifacts, and gate impact.

• Capture complete metadata for every test run (unit SNs, OS build, FW version, tool build, chamber ID, ambient conditions) and maintain traceability to requirements.
• Serve as the communication bridge between Meta engineers in the US and verification teams in-region; represent verification status in daily triage, bug syncs, and build readiness reviews.
• Partner with EE design, FW, thermal, mechanical, and TPM counterparts to close verification gaps and influence design for testability.
• Improve verification capability over time — test procedures, reporting, and automation of

repetitive measurements.

• Domestic and regional travel as needed (up to ~30%).

Minimum Qualifications

• BS in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Physics, or equivalent practical

experience.

• 5+ years of experience in hardware verification/validation of consumer electronics in a lab environment.
• Subject matter expertise in signal integrity, power integrity/DC-DC, and at least 2 of

battery and charging, sensors, memory/storage performance, system coexistence, thermal.

• Experience validating communication interfaces — I2C, SPI, UART, I2S — and working knowledge of at least 2 high-speed protocol (USB, PCIe, MIPI C-PHY/D-PHY, DisplayPort/eDP).
• Hands‑on proficiency with lab equipment: oscilloscopes, power supplies, e-loads, DMMs, battery emulators, DAQs, thermal chambers, probes.
• Ability to read and interpret schematics and layout files.
• Experience working directly with CM/ODM/JDM or component vendors.
• Experience owning test plans and driving issues to closure with cross‑functional teams.
• Excellent written and verbal English communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• MS in Electrical Engineering or related field & 7+ years of hardware verification experience, including VR/AR, wearables, or other battery-powered consumer devices.
• Experience automating hardware tests in Python (PyVISA, pandas, matplotlib) and familiarity with source control (git).
• Experience with high‑speed electrical compliance test suites and third‑party compliance labs (e.g. GRL).
• Experience with requirements‑driven verification and execution tooling ( Jira/Xray, or equivalent).
• Familiarity with Android/Linux command‑line environments for device bring‑up and logging.
• Experience supporting US‑based teams from an APAC time zone.
